Domo Arigato, Mr. Joey Votto

340x_medium
Al Behrman/AP

The Reds took the lead today on a run scoring single by Joey Votto in the 8th inning.  This was after Votto had tied the game 5-5 in the sixth with his 17th home run of the year.  Votto is batting .387/.441/.591 since July 30th.  He's now batting .294/.360/.472 on the season.  If it weren't for Geovany Soto (.294/.371/.514), I'd say that Votto has a good shot at the NL Rookie of the Year Award, but he's still having an outstanding season.  That's a long way from when it looked like he might be splitting time with Scott Hatteberg back during the spring.

Joey, I'm not angry anymore.

This is your open thread for the night to discuss Mr. Votto or your favorite Canadian bear.  Whichever you choose.

You can also discuss tonight's Louisville-Durham game which starts at 6:05 pm ET.  Homer Bailey takes on Mitch Talbot.  Dayton takes on Lansing at 7:05 pm in the Single-A playoffs.  I can't figure out who is pitching that game.

Or you can talk about whatever else is on your mind.  It's Thursday night, which is Ladies' Night.  Ladies drink for free.

hey

what neighborhood did you stay in in Sandestin? Or did you stay in one of the high rises? My in laws have a house in Laurel Grove, which is right off one of the golf courses. I like Sandestin, but I can’t say that I’d go if I had to pay for it. That whole area is expensive.

My favorite Canadian bear is Winnipeg

the mascot of the Veterinary detail attached to a Canadian cavalry regiment in 1915.

During military staging in England, she was gifted to the London Zoo where she became the Zoo’s most popular attraction until 1934.

She inspired a group of well-known children’s stories that were later bought by Disney and brutally raped over and over and over again.

Bats are up 14-0 in the top of the 4th

They just finished a 9-run third inning. Five guys already have 2 hits each. Tatum and Janish each have homered and Richar has 2 doubles. Bailey has struck out 4 thru 3 innings, allowing only 1 hit.

Glad you got in

I locked myself out awhile back. I ended up shinnying up the pole supporting my balcony, about 20 feet. Luckily, I’d forgotten to lock the door onto the balcony, and got in that way.

At first I was worried a neighbor would see me and call the cops, thinking I was a burglar or something.

Once I got in, I was worried that anyone could climb up and into my apartment, and no one would notice.
