Where's JD??
Casual visitor and all that I am, I have been wondering about this for a bit. So I waited till after the season ended. But is he still involved? Is everything ok?
Now, I don't want to slight anyone and all the guys (Slyde) who have been picking up that slack have done great. But since this was JD's baby, I was wondering what the heck happened.
And that's about all I have to say about that.

JD just doesn’t love us anymore.

JD is gone
He had a falling out with the powers-that-be at SBN and decided to move on. I’d expect him to pop back up on the internet somewhere next season, but I don’t think any major involvement with RR is likely in the future. I think he’s proud of the community that evolved here at RR and would’ve liked to continue his involvement, but it just wasn’t in the cards.
Translated: boobs pushed him out.

So does that make you Boss Slyde now....or is it Boos boobs ?
who does run this site? It has been really good this year and none of us underling RRs want to see it fadeaway.

Rick (boobs) is the lead blogger, but he's been out, so I've been trying to keep the ship floating
Given the experience that I’ve had with other blogs, I’m guessing that I won’t be able to carry the load over the long-term, so we may have to come up with a plan for the future here soon.
Honestly though, this site is fairly self-sufficient. It’s basically a hybrid of a blog and a message board. You guys all do an excellent job of adding to the discussion. The FanPosts™ make sure that news doesn’t get missed, even when the admins are out-to-lunch. And no offense to JD (in fact I’ve said this to him several times), but it’s always been the community that has made this site enjoyable. He was simply the enabler. I was disappointed when he decided to move on, but I understand why.

Agree
Speaking of old Reds blogs, is Reds (and Blues) history?

I think so
I think Doc Scott called it quits last December. I think he still posts stuff at Redszone and I had hoped that he would post stuff here too, but I guess he decided against it.

I had a feeling something like that happened
I’ve seen that before on other fan sites where they joined networks like scouts.com or rivals.com. Too bad.
So we need to curry favor with you, huh?

Nah
The only real rule is to not piss off the admins. And the best way to piss us off is to annoy the rest of community to the point that the admins need to do something about it.
Speaking of which, there has been no formal announcement, but during our moves, we made BK and Brendanukkah admins for the site. We could have picked any number of people from the site to be admins as so many of you are qualified for the job, but I felt like these two were consistently involved in game threads to the point that if new threads needed to be added or fixed, they would likely be around to handle it. Their help was greatly appreciated and for that they remain admins today.
So, that means that Rick House, myself, Fat Vegas Alan, BK, and Brendanukkah all have the powers to do whatever an admin might need to do. I figured that I should let you know in something starts going wonky with the site or a new thread needs to open up during the playoffs or such, you can contact one of us. I’ve left it open to BK and ’nukkah to do “author” type work if they please, but really their role is to just help maintain order and sanity.

Whoa
Are you serious? JD’s not coming back? And it’s because of TPTB at SBNation?
Did he tell them that their new format sucks, and we should go back to the old one?

I'm guessing they paid him money and then told him they could now tell him how to run his site.
And he said go F yourselves.

you know
he never told me the details of what happened, just that he didn’t agree with a lot of what was going on. I wouldn’t be surprised if what you say is true though.

Yeah.....
Having used to write for a site that had a bunch of ‘blogs’ under one name, I can say that sometimes you just really disagree with where things are going and can’t put yourself into it anymore. Sometimes there are things going on behind the scenes at places that just don’t work out for people. JD is a class act from everything I have seen from him though, so I doubt he didn’t have something that was reason for him to walk away.
Still, with that said it seems RR is in capable hands.

really? whose?
And having been at SBN and MVN, I will say that SBN seems to be more on the ball than MVN. Then again, I haven’t directly interacted with the SBN guys.

The guys at MVN......
They talk a lot of talk, but don’t get much done. They used to run out a Top 25 most visited sites list when I was over there. Every month I was in the top 20, running a minor league blog nonetheless. Essentially though, they were not worried about the product put out by people though, just that something was being put out and that they were always ‘unveiling’ a new layout or idea that was currently being developed, but never actually came to fruition. They were worried about $ and not really having a good product and keeping/bringing in new readers, which of course would bring in more money.
I haven’t dealt directly with the guys at SBN either, but by the looks of all the sites they have, they actually give a shit about having people come back.
As for RR and capable hands, I can honestly say, I didn’t notice that JD left or there was really any change at all. So someone was doing something right.

stopping by to say hello
this seemed like as good a place as any.
i’ve been dealing with a lot of shit lately, most recently moving. as soon as my pad is up and running i will be back to fulfill whatever duties are remaining for the season (and offseason).
it has been kind of a nice break to get away from this putrid team, though. it was getting to be a bit too much.
finally, im glad slyde is a responsible human being.
What do you mean, "blank slate"?

So, are you saying
that Slyde is some weird abstract sculptor, runs a German record label , is a white tea that has cancer fighting agents, or are you saying he fell off a building? I find all options interesting, I’m just curious which one you mean?
