Reds new AA Team - Carolina Mudcats
San Francisco signed with Connecticut, which means we are the team in Carolina. I like this one better for us, warmer weather is always better on pitchers.
From Baseball America
Looks like Double-A Connecticut took the surprise out of Double-A Carolina’s player-development contract press conference tomorrow by announcing that the Defenders will once again be a Giants affiliate. That means the Reds will be coming to Zebulon to replace the outgoing Marlins.

Also, someone hasn't quite gotten the hang of editing wikipedia
The Carolina Mudcats are a minor league baseball team based in the eastern suburbs of Raleigh, North Carolina. The team, which plays in the Southern League, were the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds major-league club until 2008.

Maybe they know something we don't
and it’s only for the rest of this calendar year, and in January we have to find a new team. It’s not like Wikipedia would be wrong…

it's between raleigh and rocky mount
and it’s in the opposite direction of the two sides on which Raleigh “grows” if that makes sense, i.e. it’s not like Garner or Cary or Fuquay

Odd
Why would the Giants have a minor league affiliate in CT?

So, everyone has to move?
Who stays with a team when it gets a new MLB affiliate? All the players who used to be Mudcats are now something else, right? How about coaches? Front office? Ballboys? Clay Aiken?

assignments
Coaches/trainers/players…. those are all from the parent club. The GM of the minor league teams does not work for the Reds, just the specific team. Their job is nothing like that of a GM in the majors, they are more marketing/PR type than anything else.

also give Doug applause for some great copy
Dusty Baker has run Corey Patterson out there for 96 starts now and the Reds centerfielders have hit a combined .249/.301/.400 (hit .300/.364/.461 without Corey Patterson).
In other words, ~.80 of OPS above league average without Copat. Yikes.
And why didn’t we see Maloney all year? The future’s so bright, we ought to wear seersucker so we don’t get too warm. I wouldn’t worry about sunglasses – it’s not THAT bright – but yeah, there is some brightness potential…good work Doug.
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield

yeah there is no way we resign Patterson
unless Dusty sees this little nugget

Maloney
I wouldn’t have called him up. He is a very fringy guy at this point still. He had some real struggles at times where he left the ball up and when he does that, he is going to get clobbered in the majors. When he works down in the zone he will be a solid back end guy, but he really struggled within the zone at times this year and it showed.

thanks for not being a bandwagon fan Chuck (you too BK)
rumor is boobs, JD, and alan have all joined scientology, while slyde has been busy building forts in his new basement….at least he pokes his head out once in a while to cheer on Votto.
