This game was the last of a four game series against the Fish, and we’d won the first three. Let’s hope that that momentum can maintain itself over four months, and we get the win today!
Also
big ups to Slyde for putting game threads up all year. I never realized how tedious the process is until he can’t be around for a day.

I have no idea
She was semi-regular last season, and the proposal is still hanging in the air, but there’s no way that she’s the “mother.” I’m guessing she turns Ted down, and is only around in this episode. I’d love for her to be on the show regularly though.

Hi kids
The cable guy just left my house and I finally have the internets again! Thanks Brendan and Brandon for covering for me during the move. And thanks to Scrabbles and Madville for actually adding content to the site. I’m not completely settled in yet, so I won’t be able to get around to posting much content this week, but I’ll do it as I can.
Now if you’ll excuse me, Google Reader simply says 1000+ unread stories and there are some porn sites who have taken a hit in traffic for a few days.

Nice Slyde-hole
Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a Slyde-hole, and that means comfort.

Are we one step closer to shedding Freel and Hopper from our roster?
Hal McCoy and Dusty Baker seem to be peeved with them, although not for any baseball skill-related reasons. What do you think? I would say that if someone’s on the 60 Day DL, I wouldn’t expect to see them around the clubhouse. But if this leads to us getting rid of at least one of them, then I’m okay with that. We don’t need both of them on a competitive roster, and the other one can replace Corey Patterson as the 4th/5th outfielder (although in my scenario, we would keep Hairston).
Burrell, Dickerson, Bruce
Cherry, Freel.
That’s my OF lineup, with Stubbs on the way. Maybe we can stash Hopper in AAA, and if not, we can just cut him. I see him being cut instead of Freel because Freel is still owed too much money. Jolbert and Patterson are taken out behind GABP and shot, then rolled in the river.

After missing five straight games, Encarnacion took batting practice Sunday and said, "I plan to play (today)."

Bottom 5 of the lineup is so inoffensive… Don’t mean to dis Kepp but there’s no way he should be in the 5 hole. EdE’s back but no Bruce. I’d love to see the 2009 core young guys out there for a couple of games together. C-Dick, Bruce, Votto, Hannigan, (BP can’t) EdE,- and Ramirez or Cueto or Voltron on the mound.
Votto is all of 25 years old

Nolasco was in the Cubs’ system and was part of the Juan Pierre trade. So for a declining, soft .300 CF with one year of arb left, Florida received Nolasco, Pinto (decent LH reliever) and Sergio Mitre (possible back-end starter; looks like he’s hurt this year).

but that hasn’t stopped them from using Harang or Cueto.

Looks like the youngsters are doing it again!
It is going to be a really really interesting off season. hope that Walt sleeps through it for the most part.
I hope we keep Jerry Jr., injury prone as he is…he’s a spunkster.( Scrappy too)
Ibn Khaldoun and Hulrich Zwingli - now that's real reform, Mr. McCain.
I just noticed this on ESPN MLB
9th – J Baker hit for M Treanor.
Play Misty for me…I would have watched the game if I’d known she was playing

She's on later tonight, buddy

Seems like he’s put together a nice season.
cold hard cash

He rises to the occassion
3 run lead, nobody on doesn’t do it for him. Spot a hit and a walk, throw in a wild pitch – only in that crucible does the Closer emerge.
Hard to believe the Marlins didn't start Cantu and Ross
Their vengeance scale numbers against us earlier this year were off the charts… if indeed there can be vengeance between the Marlins and the Reds.
Not that the Fish had any real hope of the playoffs
but it’s nice to see the Reds continue to stick a hot poker in the ass of all these contending clubs down the stretch.
its kind of hollow if you ask me
why didnt they do this shit 4 months ago? winning now only means they get a higher draft slot next year and more job security for Dusty.

Dunn and Griffey. Notice that we won today while Jay Bruce was not in the lineup.

I couldn't agree more
but this is what has become of being a Reds fan late in September. Milestones, hollow wins, false hope for next year….
sigh.
I for one don't miss my former favorite player nearly as much as I thought I would
I have 5 favorites now. So we got what 5 or 6 more games then 4 or 5 months til it begins again w/SP. I love this new young team. We need to to have thread commemorating the good the bad and Corey regarding the 2008 season.

Hal McCoy
said about 12 people showed up for this game. True?
And yay, Andy! 2 RBI single. He won the game for the Reds. :-)
