W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Todd Wellemeyer 12-7 3.63 1.23 118 55

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Aaron Harang 4-16 4.96 1.40 141 47

Want to know how stupid pitcher wins are as a stat?  Aaron Harang has allowed 3 runs or fewer in 16 starts this season.  In those games his record is 3-8.  The Reds won the other 5 games in which he didn't get a decision.  That's some bad luck.

That's been a big part of the story on Harang's season.  The offense has scored more than 4 runs in a Harang start just 4 times this season.  Yes, he had a 10-game stretch when he was a likely injured where he pitched terribly, but even when he has pitched well, the offense has let him down.  Don't let that record fool you too much.  If he's healthy, Harang will still be the Reds ace next season.

Wellemeyer appears to be another benefactor of the Pitcher Witch, Dave Duncan.  For all of the accolades that Leo Mazzone has heaped on him, it seems to me like Dave Duncan has had more success with marginal pitchers than any coach in baseball.  I have no study to back that up, just my gut.

The Reds need 4 more wins to top last season's total.  Whoopee!

6 rookies and Corey Patterson. How much does Dusty hate Harang?

Fay's blog, if that wasn't clear.

I can’t write lineups as well as Dusty can.

I feel sorry for Dusty.

The Reds don’t reimburse him postage for all the lineups he’s mailed in this year. He’s spent at least fifty bucks on stamps.

therefore he doesn’t have to like dark skinned people.

I know it doesn’t make since but the McCain camp will say it at some point.

In the month of September

The Reds have the second best record in the NL Central, trailing only the Astros. Way to turn it on when it counts, guys.

It's because Dunn is gone

they never played well in September with his lazy ass!

Ok, makes a little more sense.

Per The Fay:

Edwin Encarnacion was a late scratch. He hurt his left wrist in his last at-bat last night. “Too many check swings,” he said. “I couldn’t complete my swing with two hands.” He’s day-to-day. Dr. Tim Kremchek will check him tonight.

Merely that Troy Glaus reached on a throwing error by natural third baseman Andy Phillips.

by Brendanukkah on Sep 17, 2008 7:51 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Andy is not a natural third baseman

And it’s not like the Yankees needed a LIDR for their third baseman very often.
