Yost Canned!
I'm listening to the Cubs-Astros game at work, and they just reported that the Brewers have fired Ned Yost. Nothing posted yet on ESPN or the Brewers' web site.
I've seen a lot of Brewers interweb talk trashing Yost, but it's pretty amazing for this to happen in the middle of September with a dozen or so games to go. 3B Coach Dale "Send 'em in" Sveum will serve as Milwaukee's Pete Mackanin for the stretch run.
Edit: I was about to point out the false rumor about a Yost firing earlier this year, but ESPN has posted a report. So maybe it's not just the Wisconsin bloggerati running wild this time.

Wow
That timing is unexpected, though the act itself is not.

Oh Snap!
BCB was speculating about this the past couple days. What does this do to their stretch run?

It can't damage it much more
They just got swept by the Phillies, and are now in a tie with the Phils for the Wild Card spot. They’re really crashed and burned over the last three weeks or so.

I think they were 5.5 up on PHL two weeks ago
And now it’s tied. Without Sabathia they would’ve already been buried.

Add another to the list
of “great former NL Central managers who manage the game the right way, that would be a welcomed addition to any ball club, as compiled by George Grande”.

We haven't heard from Bavasi in awhile
What better way to make a splash then with a new bench coach?

He'd have to beat out "Ol' Scrap Iron" for the job, if it came to that

Houston - no hits through 5 against Lilly
Which makes their total zero hits in 14 innings in Milwaukee.

Good to see that home field advantage working in their favor

Speaking of the Cuns
The current picture of their fans on the front page of ESPN is poetic in its depiction of their fan base

this storm was wild
it didnt really effect my place, just a few shingles loosed is all. but the rest of Columbus is close to chaos (accept for my work, or course. we are running just fine). all the schools are closed, including Otterbein College, Capital U and Ohio Dominican U (ODU will be closed until at least Thursday, so says the news guys). the mayor cant say when the city schools will open again, but some are speculating that it wont be before next monday. the strange part is that it didnt rain at all. it was just wind.
and it seems like you all got it worse that we did.

It was the same here
All wind, no rain. The airport reported gusts of 75 mph, and it gusted like that for 4+ hours. I almost had a tree fall on my house as I was surveying the damage with neighbors. Had to run in and grab the kids, nearly pooed myself on that one.
It’s been crazy all over town. Here’s what cut in the hill looked like coming into town from KY last night. Half of downtown lit up, everything else pitch black. Even the highway lights were out. It was soothing in a weird way.

I've got power, but my house is empty
I’m staying with my sister-in-law, and they too have power. I know no one else that has power, but strangely enough I have two places to stay with power.
The outage is likely going to prevent me from being able to move into my new house for a couple of days. All of the paperwork hasn’t been completed and Joe Appraiser-guy can’t turn on his desktop computer. So, I get to rent a truck for a couple more days. Is it okay if I pretend that this storm has harmed my life more than any person could possibly be harmed? It’s my right as a white suburbanite, correct?
In all seriousness, that was one of the weirdest, scariest scenes yesterday as we were loading a moving truck whilst large branches were falling all around us. My fence was damage and the phone line was ripped away from my house, but everyone was safe and uninjured, so we’re all happy.

oh, and the worst thing that happened to me
was that I lost in the semifinals of my fantasy league simply because Brett Myers threw a complete game. If he had only pitched 8 innings, I would have won. So, I rejoice in the firing of Ned Yost as I believe he cost me a chance at a bobblehead trophy. Suck it, Ned!

with a name like "Ned Yost," I always figured he knew what he was doing.
Guess not. Perhaps they’d like to trade for Dusty’s contract?
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield

Funny, you know CY...personally I could never figure out how a guy with a name like Ned Yost ever got the job to begin with.
There must be some real clubhouse shit going on for this to happen at this point in the season.
