More Dunn-Arroyo trash talk
From Hal, the latest shots in the Dunn-Arroyo war of words:
Then Dunn was told that Arroyo said on a recent radio show that the Reds pitchers enjoying the young outfielders chasing down balls, "And, yes, Dunn hit some home runs, but he didn’t catch some balls out there."
Dunn shrugged that one off and said, "That’s because when Arroyo pitched I didn’t have to go after too many. They went over my head."
Oh no he did NOT!! I didn't hear about Arroyo's comment. There must have been friction between the two before the trade, because there's no good reason why Arroyo keeps taking shots at Dunn in the press. It's too bad that he's not pitching this series.
I do miss the big guy's sense of humor:
Dunn is wearing uniform No. 32, the same number Jay Bruce wears for the Reds, but Dunn laughed and said, "That’s not why. I know Jay misses me. Probably carries my picture in his wallet. I’m sure he sleeps with it."

I'm not sure what happened in the clubhouse
but Arroyo continues to come off as an asshole.

That reminds me of a story a former Red once told me
It involves another Reds LF, much maligned for his defense, Kal Daniels. So, the story goes that ‘ol Kal was playing left when Danny Jackson was on the mound and there was a ball hit down the line and Kal was really slow to go and get the ball, fell down lazily and allowed the runner to get to third. The guy scored on a sac fly and the Reds were then down by a run and Jackson was on the hook for the loss. When the inning ended, Jackson went over to Kal and got in his face and asked him “What the fuck were you doing out there?” and Kal looks him dead in the eye and says, "I didn’t throw that terrible muthafucking pitch, shut up!" Jackson had to be restrained and I don’t think they were ever very close after that one. I wonder just how often shit like that really happens. I know one thing, Bronson may be wise not to have physically confronted the large donkey man.

A certain Yankees broadcaster
who shall not be named here says that’s something you never, ever do if you are a pitcher. You never criticize the fielders behind you, no matter how much they deserve it.
In return, pitchers want outfielders to at least pretend to chase the ball, even if it’s hit 50’ over their heads and they have no possible chance to get it. A “courtesy chase” is expected; just turning around and watching it go out is considered as slap in the face to the pitcher.
Not sure what’s going on with Arroyo and Dunn. Maybe Arroyo’s mad because Dunn was so publicly thrilled to leave the Reds. Maybe they never got along. Or maybe they’re kidding.

I simply refuse to believe
Danny Jackson ever had to be restrained.

odd
When Dunn came up he actually had a decent throwing arm. I’ve never heard an explanation on how his arm went limp prematurely. The Reds offical I spoke to said Dunn and Junya were definite additions by subtraction in the clubhouse. The word lazy was spoken. Its funny, b/c i thought that same thing. Lack of hustle is contagious, and the Reds dont have the organizational depth to play 3/4 speed.

Dunn's throwing arm
im not sure where i heard it (or even if it was reputable, or even real) but i remember hearing that he hurt his throwing shoulder and it significantly hindered his throwing. he was a QB at Texas and his arm was pretty strong. it would almost have to have been hurt, right?
as for the lazy bit, i really do think thats a product of the Pete Rose Syndrome in Cincy. everyone is supposed to go 100 miles an hour and break their legs running into the wall or they are lazy. i dont have any inside information or anything, but its just my 2 cents.

the defense to dunn's local criticism about his attitude
has always been that we don’t really know what goes on in the clubhouse. However, perhaps stuff that Arroyo is saying, and that BP has said in the past have some merit to them.

Is this a trick question ?
‘tHan may be right, Dunner and KG jr were pretty tight and when Grif was traded it did not appear that Adam stepped up as a leader…Of course I don’t kn- ow what goes on in the clubhouse – But BP, Bronson and clownboy can all be wrong…can they?

Sadly BubbaFan you are correct
WE men only concern ourselves with:
Sex
Money
Sports
Cars
Beer
and of course Modern Dance – especially Merce Cunningham

I have an idea
Professional Coed Drunken Extreme Racing where the contestants must race while inebriated and having sex. League rules state that everyone celebrates a win with modern dance.

It seems like the Dbacks are satisfied with Dunn’s leadership.

*sigh*
“Some people have told me, ‘Why don’t you swing at the first pitch? To me, I’m not doing the team justice if I do that. In certain situations, yeah, I’ll swing at the first pitch. But the goal is usually to get the starting pitcher out of there and get into the bullpen. That’s what I try to do — work the count, and when I get a good pitch to hit, don’t miss it.”
I miss Adam Dunn so much, it’s unhealthy at this point.

wasn't there some friction between Dunn and Arroyo
because Dunn was upset that Arroyo stayed out late on nights before he was scheduled to pitch, causes him to show up to the ballpark in less than prestine condition?
