Bill Bray discovered baseball in 1755
No really, it's true.
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26664476/
In his diary entry of March 31, 1755, he says “Went to Stoke Ch. This morning. After Dinner Went to Miss Jeale’s to play at Base Ball with her, the 3 Miss Whiteheads, Miss Billinghurst, Miss Molly Flutter, Mr. Chandler, Mr. Ford & H. Parsons & Jelly. Drank Tea and stayed till 8.”
But then, "Mr. Baker pulled me to allow Mr. Weathers to confront the righty and prompty blow the bloody game to hell." Buggers.
On a side note, why did they hide the "new diary post" link in its current location? This format sucks. JD, can we end this trial period and go back to the old site?

Austen Powers
At one point the earliest printed reference to the game was considered to be Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey.
“. . .it was not very wonderful that Catherine. . . should prefer cricket, baseball, riding on horseback, and running about the country, at the age of fourteen, to books.”

You can tell your uncle stuff that you could not tell your dad. That is kind of the role of an uncle. I feel very much like a father sometimes but sometimes I feel like a teammate.

I like the old site better, too
For me, this site only works when hardly anyone’s here. Which means it’s usable, now that everyone’s lost interest.

Maybe we should rec this to get it more attention.
I remember when the SBN guy was blogging and answering all our questions that first week. He said they would be coming out with a mobile version really soon. Never happened. It crashes iphone every time now. I know there were a lot fo other promises that first week too, but this one gets me the most.
