Dead Pool Update
Anyone have Bernie Mac?
from msbnc.com:
CHICAGO - Bernie Mac, the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian who worked his way to Hollywood success from an impoverished upbringing on Chicago’s South Side, died Saturday at age 50.
“Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital,” his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles.
She said no other details were available and asked that his family’s privacy be respected.
The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.
Recently, Mac’s brand of comedy caught him flack when he was heckled during a surprise appearance at a July fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate and fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama.
Toward the end of a 10-minute standup routine, Mac joked about menopause, sexual infidelity and promiscuity, and used occasional crude language. The performance earned him a rebuke from Obama’s campaign.

Wow
I thought pneumonia in someone his age was more easily treated than that (assuming his lung ailment was indeed in remission). Too bad, he was a funny cat. But, that sets up the plot for the next Oceans 11 movie. Somebody kills Bernie Mac and the boys steal a bunch of stuff to get even.
Overserved and underwhelmed.

by the way
if anyone missed last night’s game, the fay summarized it nicely:
Game came down to only play. Corey Patterson made along run and dive at Carlos Lee’s slicing line drive in the 10th. It went off Patterson’s glove for a two-double.
pretty much says it all.

That's sad about Isaac Hayes
I heard an interview with Trey Parker and Matt Stone about a year ago. They said the last time they saw him he was very thin and weak because the Scientologists had put him on some sort of wheat grass detox diet. Maybe he had some sort of health condition, but this coupled with his being found dead next to a running treadmill makes me think this could have been avoided.

Thanks.
I was wondering what that rumbling in my stomach was. I’ve got to start eating better.

You can tell your uncle stuff that you could not tell your dad. That is kind of the role of an uncle. I feel very much like a father sometimes but sometimes I feel like a teammate.
