It looks like it is going to be a beautiful weekend in Cincinnati this weekend.  I think I might go outside.  Wish me luck.

Outside? Really?

Did your mom say it was okay? Do you have your SPF 427 ready?

How can such a good looking man be so bad at getting to first base?

The losing streak,

Dusty’s comments, hiring Bavasi… I’m pretty sure all I wanna do is go home, shave my head, and start drinking heavily. Maybe some MarioKart.

I'm with this guy

But I’ll keep my hair (I am an UGLY man bald), and it’ll be PS3 so let’s go with MLB08 instead of MarioKart.

I just play baseball mogul 99

I selloff Sanders,Harnish,Wells,Cook and Tauby all the old players, suck for 2-3 seasons while I draft up the team. By 2006 I have a machine.

Why are Randy Wolf's stats only from his time with Houston?

He didn’t change leagues. Shouldn’t the cumulative stats all be counted?

Bavasi to the Reds

We know things are bleak now. The good thing is Cast will probably bail on the Reds in a couple of years when the losing becomes to much.

The Reds are the franchise that doesn’t get it.

by Johnnypronto on Aug 8, 2008 5:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Franchise that doesn't get it

You and I can agree on that point. I’m really starting to understand that whole “Mark Twain in Cincinnati at the end of the world” bit. Is it that hard to comprehend that experience of running a franchise into the ground is NOT experience you want to have in your own front office?

by Brendanukkah on Aug 8, 2008 5:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Fay...

...apparently agrees with Dusty. Kinda. He says the Reds’ biggest problem is a lack of talent.

The Lineup:

Jeff Keppinger ss
Joey Votto 1b
Jay Bruce rf
Brandon Phillips 2b
Adam Dunn lf
Edwin Encarnacion 3b
Corey Patterson cf
David Ross c
Johnny Cueto p

He also says there’s been a change in the rotation:

Aaron Harang will start Sunday. Edinson Volquez will be moved back to Tuesday, giving him two extra days.

All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?

It's a shame

The only one with balls enough to even consider it is Daugherty, and he’s so far up the Reds ass he wouldn’t say shit about ownership or management. He’s generally a kiss-ass to them while being ridiculously unfair to the players. Pretty much everyone else in the town doesn’t matter, journalistically. Maybe Hal, but he’s in Dayton and can’t see the shit going on on the field.

From the Seattle Times
Bavasi was hired by the Mariners before the 2004 season. They finished last in the AL West his first three years before winning 88 games and placing second in 2007, raising expectations for this year. But the Mariners struggled to a 24-45 record when he was fired after a three-game sweep by the lowly Washington Nationals.
