Game 113: Reds vs Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds, Aug 4, 2008 7:10 PM EDT

Remember the slight air of hope that you may have felt prior to the Rockies series? Yeah, me neither. I don't know what to say at this point. I still watch off and on, but honestly I watched Wipeout on Saturday night instead of the game. Wipeout?!?!

Hopefully they can do something to make the rest of this season interesting, but with the way they've been playing lately, I don't have a lot of hope. Maybe Joey Votto is just getting ready to give us a Player of the Month performance for August? Something like that could get him the Rookie of the Year award too. Well that's what I'm rooting for then! Help us, Joey-wan-Kenobi, you're our only hope!

Man
I’m home sick and still couldn’t get first. :(
How can such a good looking man be so bad at getting to first base?

I blame you
For not saving us from the Curse of Chandrathan. That poor baby is never going to get out.

Someone should tabulate the "First" records so far this season.
We need a proven veteran “first” poster to get out of this slump.

Ok, I won't be at this game
So a) we’ll have a chance of winning, and b) this game thread might exceed 200 comments. But c’mon people, I’m only one man.
Lineup
via [sic]:
Jeff Keppinger ssJoey Votto 1b
Edwin Encarnacion 3b
Brandon Phillips 3b
Adam Dunn lf
Jolbert Cabrera rf
Jay Bruce cf
David Ross c
Bronson Arroyo p
vs. LH Manny Parra
The good news: No Corey! EdE batting third!
The bad news: Jolbert batting 6th! Kepp (with his stellar .320 OBP) leading off!

WTF?
Who did this lineup? Why is there a first baseman in the two-hole, when there’s a perfectly good CFer available?
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Maybe Dusty thinks that
this team is so hopeless for the rest of this season, that the fans will stop bitching about the batting order.

I haven't decided
whether I should be happy about EdE batting third, or mad that Dunn’s still batting 5th. Hm.

Well it is bowling night, maybe they'll have the game on at the lanes:
With this batting order we’ll probably have Australian Football. Boy is Dusty OTL. I read that he likes batting Dunn 5th because he’s always batted 5th even in the minors. therefore he a #5 kind of guy.

i think this sums it up quite nicely
“The third man, a 34-year-old Joliet resident, was not charged with a felony because he did not reach the victim until after the initial beating had taken place. Milwaukee police cited him for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor assault after he allegedly punched his sister in the mouth as she tried to intervene in the fight, police said.”
punched his own sister in the mouth. i bet alot of Cubs fans can relate to that.

I saw this over on Brew Crew Ball
.414 BA
.485 OBP
.931 SLG
1.416 OPS
That’s Edwin’s line against the Brewers this year. So, good thing he’s batting third. And Bill Hall is not in the starting lineup. We might have a chance!
One curveball for a ball
The rest were 89 mph fastballs. And Bronson gets Braun to fly out. Time for Braun to go rest on the Sabathia.

Shucks, I was hoping to be able to use the “K”orey slam. Dacub is so clever! How does he come up with this stuff?

I have mixed feelings about this
The reds do obviously need to win, but at the brewers expense? I like the brewers, they’re longer suffering than us
Politickin' in God's Country
Agreed
But just think back to that series in 1999, where if we hadn’t completely shit the bed against the Brewers, we would have never needed to play that 1 game play-in game against the Mets.
Bud Selig can rot in hell for that last damn game
I stayed up the whole damn night listening to it. Cal Eldred was the pitcher for the Brewers as I recall.
Politickin' in God's Country
8 straight balls for Bronson
I’m not too upset about pitching around Braun and Fielder, but now the Brewers are only down by one with one swing of the bat.
I have $120 in Reds gift certificates that must be used for 2008 tickets
so, we’re heading to Cincy for the weekend to watch these losers play. I’m leaning toward splurging on the scout seats or the dugout boxes. Anyone going to be at the game?
