Since I started a minor flame war last week...
I’ll start another post that would make an excellent off-day thread.
See this? Justifications for yesterday’s lineup:
- Rosales, who “hasn’t played much shortstop”, wasn’t started; he played SS exclusively in the minors until TJS. 107-year-old Cabrera, who’s played everywhere but C in his pro career (and except for 1b, he’s played every position more than SS), got the start instead. FTH?
- Despite the “youth movement”, Patterson was given the chance to further his quest as “worst Red ever” for defensive reasons. Given the choices, this probably wasn’t a bad idea.
- Bako, on the other hand, was behind the plate because "(y)ou want to put the best team out there defensively and offensively". Uh, Dusty, the dude’s terrible. Always has been. And he’s older than Cabrera. Meanwhile, Hanigan is neither. So I ask again: FTH?

i think what burns me the most
is that if this shit were happening to the Yankees he would have been tossed out Jazzy Jeff style in mid-July. this is the first ive read of the media calling out Baker, and Fay didnt even really go after him. i really hope that Bob has enough sense to can him this winter, because i dont know how much more of this i can take.

trent went after dusty today on his blog:
Baker is so bad that even Cub fans can tell how bad he is during their break in the world’s largest frat house that is Wrigley Field.
What do you mean, "blank slate"?

So the breaking point for C Trent is 110 pitches for Cueto
and not, maybe, EVERYTHING THE FUCK ELSE.
(This does make me worry that Trent knows something about Cueto’s injury)

Looking at Bako's BBR page sid linked
I noticed that Paul Bako has gotten more ABs with the 2008 Reds (264) than he has for any team since his rookie season (305, Detroit ’98). And he has a damn good shot at achieving his career high this season.
This has been the first season he ’s gotten over 200 ABs since 2002.
By seasons end, Baker will have devoted over 600 ABs to players without the offensive skillset to be league average hitters.
Again, opinion is divided on the matter of whether Paul Bako sucks: everyone else in the league thinks he does, the Reds think he doesn’t.

he wanted to play Rosales where he felt comfortable....
guess he did not want alot of errors to cost us the game.

Rosales has played 25 games at shortstop this season
Cabrera has played 30 games at shortstop since 2003.
I’m more a hello man and a welcome man than a good-bye man. And to me Adam Dunn was more a person than a player.

His brother plays shortstop
So, due to the transitive properties of Sra. Cabrera’s uterus, Jolbert is a great shortstop!
by Brendanukkah on Aug 25, 2008 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions 2 recs
If Sra. Cabrera is a kangaroo then she would have two seperate uteri
And then where would your transitive property be?
Shot to hell. That’s where.

That’s what baby kangaroos are called, right? Nickname potential?

I like the smackdown of Dusty
in the linked article:
“He hasn’t played that much shortstop,” Baker said. “I’ll get him in there. I want to put him in where he’s comfortable.”
Rosales played 25 games at shortstop for Triple-A Louisville. Rosales, 25, came up as a shortstop. He played there his first two years in the Reds system.
He played mostly first base last season as he recovered from “Tommy John” surgery in 2006.
I think we overmeet as a society.

I never thought I would say this
I liked Dusty better on Baseball Tonight saying stupid and useless comments and giving his “playing the game the right way” speeches when it didn’t hurt my favorite team.
Seriously I remember when Bonds hit 750 last year and Baseball Tonights coverage was hilarious that night. Dusty’s only comment was “Thats a bunch of home runs…” . Only get the best from the worldwide leader eh?

Looks like I picked a fine week
to be out of the country on a fishing trip in the wilderness of Northwest Ontario. No phone service, Internet, TV, radio or any other means of communication. It was a good week.
Now, let’s see if I can get back up to speed. Well, I never had any speed, but you know what I mean.

so, you're just saying...
that Indianapolis really does suck more?
I’m in the Bay Area. The 49ers and Giants are expensive, and they stink. Bad. Like, Reds-bad. But, PacBell-AT&T-whatever Park is very cool.
The A’s are often good, though not this year, and cheap. Only 3-4 years ago you could get ~$7 bleacher seats. The Raiders, well, I’m afraid to go to Raiders game.

The teams are terrible but at least they’re expensive.

In teh spirit of the elections, someone has to add the “Patterson for Assignment” logo to this site.

What are you trying to do?
Start another flame war? This is totally too controversial for this site. Why don’t you try posting something less controversial, like “Adam Dunn totally sucks because he walks too much, strikes out too much, sucks at defense and doesn’t care about baseball”?
Hey Dusty...Are you sure you're OK? You might need an MRI.
