Complete Coverage >

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Johnny Cueto 8-12 4.74 1.37 142 55

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Ubaldo Jimenez 9-11 3.99 1.48 129 78

It's a matchup of young, hard-throwing Dominican phenoms today.  Cueto has been pitching very well of late, but the Reds only have one win in his last 5 starts.  He still needs two wins to get to my artificial goal of double-digit wins.

Jimenez is a couple of years older than Cueto and a much wilder, but his ERA is better because he's only allowed 9 HR compared to Cueto's 26.  He threw 6 shutout innings against the Reds last month in a game in a game where he only allowed 5 hits (2 by Dunn, 1 by Griffey, Votto, and Bruce).  Hopefully the offense can continue to be the juggernaut they've been so far in Colorado.

People Don't Kill People. Burning Couches Kill People.

I don't know if anyone caught this last night

but Brantley tried to make a case about how the “Post Dunn and Griffey Era” has made the Reds a better team.

I recall him saying something about how the Reds can score in every other inning now with the young players and “not have just one big inning of getting 4 or 5 runs.”

Not only did his statement not make any sense but the Reds scored 6 runs last night and lost the game still! Must be the ghost of Adam Dunn’s bad influence then.

Norris Hopper's #1 fan!!!

I heard that

And chuckled at the idiocy. I also heard him state at some point recently that this team was “a couple of guys away” from making a run at things. I think he’s either retarded, drunk, or both.

How can such a good looking man be so bad at getting to first base?

I've taken to turning the volume off

I can’t even listen anymore. I don’t want to hate people, and most of the announcers make me hate.

Overserved and underwhelmed.

I haven't really been following Olympic baseball

But I just noticed that Jeff Stevens was on the team. Yup, the guy we traded for Brandon Phillips. So does Stevens’s bronze medal help even that trade up a little? No? Ok then.

3 up, 3 down for the Reds

Think about a possible name change, 3 Fast 3 Furious.

by Brendanukkah on Aug 24, 2008 3:13 PM EDT   0 recs

don't we already have one of those around here?

...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield

by Cy Schourek on Aug 24, 2008 3:29 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Guess I phrased that badly

I was suggesting that the present 3 Fast 3 Furious might want to change his name to 3 Up 3 Down to better reflect the nature of the team he follows.

right

guess I read that badly. I haven’t been around much of late, I’m working on it.

This is depressing

Going into a game against a team like COL fully expecting to lose.

Nice to see Hobart in the line up – Brilliant Dustbrain
Oh and that great hitting Bako too
And the ever popular CoFlat.

I think I’m going to hurl…

I’m feeling really good about our young guys turning this into a better defensive club.

did one of the announcers say that?

Isn’t that why we got a speedster? Geez, not that the Rockies announcers are any better, they’re extolling praise on Corky Miller.

Quick poll

Did I fuck up my knee by:

A.) Sprinting on the beach, hitting some soft sand, sinking my leg into the sand up to the knee and falling on my face;

or

B.) Participating in a mosh pit on some stadium concourse after spending nine hours driving.
