I'd like to see the Wagon keep rolling. I'd like to see the Cook get burned. I'd like to see the Bruce lead the team to freedom. And I'd like to C Dick run! Go Reds! Only 33 more of these bad boys left, so enjoy them while they're here.
Yes, I'm drunk.

Pretty good comment today, IMO:
The letter was unnecessary. Fans assume everything you said in it — we want to win, we’re trying to build a consistent winners, yada, yada. And most fans aren’t ticked off about the trades of Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn. What they’re ticked off about is Corey Patterson still being on the team and — to a lesser degree — Josh Fogg still being in the rotation.
That’s because the fans are ready to turn the page. They want to see the youth movement in full swing. Fogg and Patterson were stop-gap guys. Neither one should have been signed in the first place. That they’re part of the team as the calerdar turns toward September has the fans — those who are still paying atteention — wondering what the plan is. Put Matt Maloney in the rotation and play an outfield of Jay Bruce, Drew Stubbs and Chris Dickerson for the rest of the year. That would say a lot more to fans than the letter did.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Yeah, I noticed that
Maybe he had a copy editor look at it this time.
It’s the short version of an article he wrote for tomorrow’s paper, so it may have been copy-edited for that.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
either way
he is spot on. Corey Patterson is still on this team and there is no excuse for it. this guy will have spent the entire season (save a week) with our baseball team. Walt better grow a pair and put Dusty in his place because we really shouldnt be standing for this level of managerial incompetence.

Yeah, except he's of 3 months too late
Patterson’s season was over in April. And to think we all thought he was going to be DFAed when Bruce got called up.

Way to leap into the debate about the letter, Fay.
It only came out how loing ago? Have you had enough time to look over everyone else’s reactions yet?
Here’s another good one from Fay:
“Joey Votto is hotto.”

Obama’s blind, isn’t he?
I’m more a hello man and a welcome man than a good-bye man. And to me Adam Dunn was more a person than a player.

So I get a call from daughter #1
“Hey Dad, you wanna go the Game” (for her family that means Bengals) and I said “sure I’ll go.”
So while she was walking from her house to my house (3 min. walk) she changed her mind and decided that she couldn’t leave her 5 month old baby with her husband who’s recovering from a mild car accident..see? Well she ran into some guys walking down my street and sold her 4 tickets for $30ea….then stopped by to give me (and her 10 year old son the bad news). Personally I was just going along for the ride….hell I wouldn’t have given her $30 for all four tickets. My grandson (who’s pissed the Reds for trading his 2 fav players) said" That’s alright Poppie (my name) the Bengals are going suck really bad this year anyway" and he went home tp play Wii.
So now I’m gonna get to clean the basement with Mrs. M.

If the Yanks offer Melky Cabrera
Do not take the bait. I think he’s the densest player in baseball. Brain damage from sliding headfirst into 1B too often, maybe.
From the SWB Yankees Blog:
Bottom third: I understand that Melky Cabrera wants to prove to the Yankees that he’s willing to play hard — and you can’t deny he’s run out every ball and play good, hustle defense — but he was just caught stealing second. Last night he was caught stealing third in tie game in the bottom of the ninth. Sunday he was thrown out foolishly trying to stretch a single into a double. Cabrera needs to show he’s willing to hustle, but right now the greater concern might be whether or not he’s a bonehead.
At least Patterson’s not that dumb.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
brantley says our offense will be just as good without griffey and dunn because we'll score in different ways

Rockies bats
I’ve been on the Ryan Spilborghs bandwagon for the past 3 months or so. Apparently, they asked for him in a Fogg deal, which, while batshit insane as a return for Fogg, shows that they’re targeting a good player. He’s a career .302/.375/.474 hitter, and .314/.420/.497 this season. There’s probably some Coors Field inflation there, but I think he can be a .290/.390/.450 guy in any park.

Fun fact of the night
Corey Patterson has 91 total bases on the year. If we pro-rate his salary out to the 130th game of the season, that works out to $26,455.05 per base so far this year. In other words, each base Corey Patterson has attained this year has earned him more than what the average teacher in North Carolina takes home after taxes.

counters mccain’s most glaring weakness (the economy). Also counters his age. Romney’s likeable and a good debater to boot. Where they’ll get hit hard, however, is in the fact that McCain and Romney are worth a combined 300 million while Obama and Biden are about 1/100th that.

I think the smart money is on Romney.
The bottom of the ticket doesn’t really matter. People vote for the top of the ticket.
But at least Romney may have some energy awareness. He’s an old friend of Matthew Simmons’. The guy who wrote the influential Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy. And who has described McCain’s “drill, drill, drill” plan as “a cruel hoax.”

Batter struck out and got in the way of Bako trying to throw the runner out at second on the steal attempt.
So the ump called the runner out too. Batter’s interference.
Baker struck out
and Stewart was running on the play. Baker struck out on a check swing, and kind of lunged over the plate. Bako popped up to throw to second but Baker was in his way so they called interference. i dont think an error was scored on the play, but Baker did kind of mess up.
