I got it

I wish I had never joined the Reds mailing list. Yuck…..

How can such a good looking man be so bad at getting to first base?

9:05 starting games are not very conducive to lively game threads, methinks.

I mean, Madville’s already passed out in the cow field…

Grande also already said that

Phillips is back to the 3 spot where he’s familiar from last year. He hit there in 17 in the 154 games he started. 11%. Cracker jack analysis, Georgie!

Other than Kepp

I don’t completely hate this lineup. It’s something different, and why not?

Howard Dean kept me from tonight's game

his speach went to 6:45 and I didn’t want to go in a suit.

The Wire..and why it is such a great show

quite possibly the 2nd best drama of all time behind the Sopranos

I only saw the first season

and gave up about half way through the 2nd. It was good and maybe someday I’ll go back and watch it

I just got season 1 of the Wire

I watched the first episode, and left kind of unimpressed. I’m willing to give it an extended try though. An acquired taste?

yeah it starts out a little slow

but it is supposed to be that way. to draw you in like a novel and then BAM it gets really, really good.

Season 1 it was just your run of the mill crime show

albeit a very well done one. Season 2 meandered a little bit. It took the bold step of changing much of the focus and characters.

Seasons 3 and 4 were some of the best television ever.

by Red Menace on Aug 22, 2008 9:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Great, great show.

just finished season 5

and I would say it is the best thing I have ever seen on television.

(Besides game 4 in 1990)

Tanzen!

Reds and the Super Bowl

i almost said both are more entertaining for their commercials. im waiting for a little farmers only and together again. ah, and im longing for masterchip theatre.

by obc2 on Aug 22, 2008 9:19 PM EDT   0 recs

I doubt we see any of the 3

Farmer’s only commercials are a rare treat, and together again’s been retired for the new shittier ones. I also miss Masterchip Theatre, and hate the new Grippo’s commercials.

I'm rec'ing this

Because it’s a microcosm of being a Reds fan. August 22nd and we’re discussing which commercials we like best. Ugh.

by obc2 on Aug 22, 2008 9:23 PM EDT   0 recs

Is that why

he just ran the ball halfway back to the infield after Hanigan’s errant throw?

He totally wanted to race Barmes to the plate.

I am not

Channel/time? Any good?

I’ve heard of it, and the potential of a reality show based on marketing people intrigues me.

Not reality, it's a drama

It’s on AMC at 10 on Sundays. Season two is three eps underway. It’s Madison Avenue execs in 1960 (1961 now actually).

Ah

I’ve only half-watched the promos here and there. I’ll have to resort to the “any good?” portion of my comment.

it's really good

Much of the entertainment value lies in the anachronisms of an incredibly chauvinistic office where the men drink scotch and harass their secretaries all day. But it’s got really good attention to historical detail as the white male masters-of-the-universe characters’ world is gradually overturned by social change.
