Discussing matter...
It seems to me that matter and energy are related. The Reds games no longer matter, so I’m not devoting a lot of energy to them. (times the speed of light squared)
I’m more a hello man and a welcome man than a good-bye man. And to me Adam Dunn was more a person than a player.

I don't see why anyone would want to discuss this matter, but you never know

this is a question
that’s probably easily answered by wikipedia or some such, but I’ll ask it here: am I correct in remembering that there was a middle child in the family who just up and disappeared one season?

yes
the younger dauaghter judy left the show without explanation. also, aunt rachel left the show after a few seasons. for some reason, however, her son richie stayed with the family.
Rick is right that there was a different mother, but it wasn’t until the last season that she was replaced. The lady who played the mom, started out as a character on Perfect Strangers. Family Matters was a spinoff of Perfect Strangers that was supposed to follow the Winslow family. As we all know, the show would have died a sure and sudden death had they not gotten lucky and added steve urkel to the show!

Ever notice
Carl Winslow also plays a cop in Die Hard and Ghostbusters? I think he is in one other movie as a cop but I can’t remember.

He was a cop in Turner and Hooch
and apparently a limo driver in Crocodile Dundee, a film which I’ve endeavored to erase from my memory.

Does this matter?
Adam Dunn seems to be getting some nice press in Arizona. I think he doesn’t know how to deal with it. Nice to see him get away from the Banana Phone crowd.

Wow.
"When I talked to Adam, I told him, ‘Don’t try to be something you’re not,’ " Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said. "Just be Adam Dunn. And he’s been exactly that.""
What a difference this attitude must make for everybody. “Just do what you do well and it will be more than enough.”
All I know is that I’m getting a heck of a lot more at-bats with runners on base," third baseman Mark Reynolds said.
That is a good thing right? I get confused about this following the Reds.
Here’s what you don’t see in the box score: Dunn has freed the Diamondbacks’ hitters up to be themselves. When a team doesn’t have a true clean-up hitter, others try to compensate. They fail most of the time because they’re trying to be something they’re not. But with Dunn in tow, guys like Chris Young and Jackson and Chad Tracy don’t have to try to jack every pitch 400 feet. They know Dunn will take care of the long ball.
Man, I sure miss our true number 6 hitter. He sure freed up Bako and Patterson to do what they do best.
Tanzen!

Yes.
This was really depressing to read. I am happy for Dunn, sad for us.
I’m now rooting for the Mets. That may become more permanent, the more this organization does things that are banana-phone worthy.

Another 0-fer night for Dunn.
What does that BB column stand for again on the stat sheet? I saw he had three of them but his BA went down so I just figured they weren’t that important.
Tanzen!

Tom Shearn took the mound tonight
For the Rochester Redwings.
5.0 IP, 8 H, 6R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 3 HR
He managed to suck more than Kei Igawa. Igawa gave up just as many hits, but no home runs or walks.

Worse team
2008 Cincinnati Reds, or 2008 US track team?
by Brendanukkah on Aug 21, 2008 11:38 PM EDT 0 recs
you know
everyone is predicting such horrible things from them that I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually jump out and beat a few teams they shouldn’t.

Someone from Cincinnati is doing something good
Heather Mitts had a great game as the US beat Brazil 1-0 to win the gold medal for women’s soccer. My girl Hope Solo stopped 15 shots (huge number) to keep the clean sheet. After saying that she would have stopped the shots when Brazil beat the USA in the World Cup (and Solo was benched in favor of Briana Scurry), she absolutely had to have a great game, and boy did she.
Congratulations to the US women. We shan’t speak about softball.

Was one of the male hurdlers from Cincinnati?
I swear one of them (who got silver I think) yelled 5-1-3 into the camera.

Thats Greekist!
geez, conventions are only a week away? Why, it seems like this political season will be over too soon!
well, it is my first time voting, so that should be exciting. Except it’ll be an absentee ballot. But I’ll be voting as an Ohioan (which I am, by technicality, even though I’ve lived there for all of 3 weeks of my life, non consecutively). So hey.
