Game 125: Reds vs. Cardinals
St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds, Aug 17, 2008 1:15 PM EDT

It's Faith Day at the ballpark, brought to you by the Creation Museum. I have no comments on that, but I often wonder if there is an intelligent design behind the Reds.
The season is starting to get tense. I don't know if my nerves can handle this chase for the end of the season.

Did you hear about

It sounds cool but it is basically a dizzy bat race.

I can't link to it
but that photo of the guy with the NASCAR sunglasses on and his arms upraised in the promo for today’s game really brightened my day.

the pastore who wins get to sit with Jeremy Affeldt in his soecial stadium seating area and
gets his choice of an overnight with Gapper or Rosie Red

Creation Museum/Faith Day
this is even more hokey than the new age funeral I attended on Friday.
With this kind of a promo it really is no wondering why the Red’s are so far out of it. They’ve a management that is faith based and a field manager who’s hearing impaired.
What’s up CC – Verka ?
I will not be drinking today so no worries guys, we’ll have a regular old RR thread.

I'll try to write using the 'hilljack' dialect
which is spoken fairly rarely these days. But when I first went Madison Bowl 30 years ago there still many members of early Hazard Man (stupefactus homininbredus) walking among us.

translation: It was hard to find a consistent line today because of all the oil on the lanes, therefore difficult to bowl a strike.

Small sample size alert but he’s doing all the things you want in your top spot.
Thank God he’s fast, looks athletic and plays the outfield. Otherwise he’d be batting in front of Bako.

The Reds teaming up with heavy Christianity puts me in a funny position as a Reds fan. I’m not a Christian. I would feel very, very, awkward at the game today. It’s not mocking what I don’t know/understand, its just that I wouldn’t like being treated as an outsider at a baseball game.

Anyway, my original post was silly. I sort of have a scorched earth policy as I can’t really think of anything that actually offends me personally. I have certainly been upset and angered on behalf of people I care about, but not really for myself. There might be something, but I can’t think of anything at the moment.
Just a passing moment of empathy for people like Thundering Turtle, Caleb and Crolfer. But they’re big boys and don’t need any old henning from the likes of me.

International scouts contacted by BA indicated they believed the bonus was for $2.7 million, although the official number has not been confirmed. That bonus would be the largest signing bonus ever given to a player from Venezuela.Ha. Your TV guys were just joking about “five-tool” prospects who forgot to pack their hit tool.Rodriguez, who just turned 16 this month, is a four-tool player who draws praise from scouts for his athleticism, speed, power and arm strength. Scouts say his hit tool lags behind his other abilities–a significant concern for several scouts–but his athleticism and ceiling are both high.
