The game's over already?
Gameday must really be lagging.

Andy Phillips
is off the interstate with that home run.
Put all the Bats and scrubs in, I say. At least they still care.

Three options with Harang
1. Shut him down and get him re-evaluated for ligament damage.
2. Put him in the bullpen as a long man.
3. Keep running him out there to get shellacked, last 3-4 innings, and lead the league in losses. And run the risk of the injury coming back or coming back worse.
They’re playing for nothing right now. I vote to shut him down.

Harang needs to not pitch again this season

I agree.
there is no point to run him out there to potentially get hurt. bring up homer and keep him up here for the remainder of the year.

that's clearly the way to go...
Harang knows how to pitch, we just need to make sure he is healthy for next year.
Also, like you mentioned, it gives us an excuse to keep bailey up here

or Maloney
i wouldnt mind at all if he got a couple 5 starts up here this year.
isnt it strange how disconnected the Reds are from the sentiments of their fans? they seem to think the only way to keep people coming to the ballpark is talk nonsense about trying for a “winning” season. so they keep giving starts to garbage like Fogg and Patterson and Valentin. but i would much rather go to the ballpark to see some youngsters. i was thinking about going to see a game here in Sept, but if things keep going the way they are going, which is say playing old vets, i wont be doing it. if they start playing the youngsters i will definitely be there.
i imagine the plan is to start playing all the kids in Sept, because thats the Dodger Way or some shit. something about how its not cool to quit on the season until then. i sure hope so. if the calendar is the only reason that Patterson is still playing, as irrational as that is, im much more ok with it.

Totally agree re: disconnect.
More of the same simply doesn’t get it done. I hope Walt sees that and goes for wholesale changes rather than just dumping the high-priced power hitters. Let all of the free agents walk for all I care. None of them really helped this year anyway.
Additionally, guys like Freel and Valentin need to go. They’re part of an old and busted way of doing things. Fans want hope for the future, and the Reds can generate that by getting guys like Rosales back up here, playing Hanigan all the time, getting a look at Maloney, etc.

of all of Dusty's mistakes
this one frustrates me the most. of course, Harang was abused plenty by Narron, but that San Diego fiasco really affected him. whether an MRI says he has an injury or not, there is no reason he should ever pitch again this year.

What's up dirty dogs?
Doesn’t look like I missed much the last two nights.
I got to see Adam Pettyjohn rock some Clippers in C-Bus tonight, which was encouraging, and Danny Richar and Drew Stubbs had decent games. Carlos Fisher should be in the big leagues, and I got to say hey to Danny Ray Herrera, who is a freaking cool dude. I don’t have a camera so this isn’t much of an eyewitness report, but there wasn’t much else of note happening in the game.
I saw we signed Yonder and the game thread tonight was insane. Neat.

It looks like the Reds are following the Rockies model
Build the team from the farm system. Do not acquire expense free agents. Trade sparingly to fill holes in the lineup – especially trade guys about to hit free agency. It sorta works for the Rockies – they got lucky and then got totaled in the World Series.
