Fireworks Party at Stately Daniels Manor in Newport
So here's the thing my Reds internet nerd compatriots, the WEBN fireworks on the river hold us hostage every year and there's nothing left to do buy embrace it and throw a big party. So, it's Aug 31 and it's Riverfest and we're located in the middle of all of it in Mansion Hill in Newport. Since y'all are sort of an extended family for me, united in Reds fandom pain, you are invited to the madness, but I need to know how many of you are interested in coming so we can plan accordingly. We are having it catered with servers and will have a keg, wine, and booze. Juice boxes are for the kids only, Slyde. And kids are not only welcomed, but appreciated.
All that I ask is that you e-mail me in advance, so Mrs. Pops and I can plan. You have to bring nothing but yourselves and you are on your own with parking. I will give directions to those who need it and will give out the address privately via e-mail. It starts at 4 p.m. with dinner served around 6 p.m. It ends whenever you can drive out of the madness. I may be forgetting crucial details, so questions here will be answered whenever the hell I feel like it (between bottles and diapers actually). Thanks for being a main source of entertainment for me ladies and gentleman. This is my gift to you.

I hate you
Maybe I can call one of you guys at 8:45 and see how drunk you are. I’ll be stone cold sober until the forst shell goes off. Can I crash at your place after I get blasted at the Levee at the afterparty? :)

I'd trade you places anytime.
You get the best seat for the event. How do you get back ashore? Swim?

Oh no you wouldn't
~60 hr weeks this week and next, 14 hrs worked that day, no drinking until it’s done. The stress is probably the worst part though. This isn’t a CD skipping at a house party. If something goes wrong, you piss off/disappoint a over million people. Literally. There’s no room for error.
All that said, yeah. The boat is by far the best place to see the show. :)

I put in 64 last week.
Had a server upgrade that didn’t go so well. I was at the office for 22 hours straight and then put in another 6 the next day from home.

Been there, brutha
I may have been off on the weekly totals too, considering I pulled 17 last night and am staring at the same shit tonight. The next day is what kills me, having to be around to make sure you didn’t fuck something up while saving the day.
Oh, and why didn’t you have a backup to go to? I woulda bailed out earlier than that. :)

Oh we did..
We were moving our last NT4 server to 2003. My DBA said SQL7 should be able to be installed on 2003. I should have checked myself. I had an 03 server all ready, calls me at 9 and said “I can’t install in on 03”. I had to rebuild the whole thing from scratch with 2000. So that added about 8 hours to my plan.
Then he had difficulties restoring the databases and I had to help him through that. The job got done, but it wasn’t pretty..
Lesson to you kids – SQL7 will not install on Windows 2003 Server. (that really isn’t exactly true – but it is unsupported). Lesson two – never trust a DBA – look it up yourself.

Picture Time

NT4. I supported that once. Ten years ago. Wow. That is all.
Lessons learned a long time ago for me – SQL blows donkey balls, but is a necessary evil. And never trust the classic “should be able to” statement. But you know these things. :)
Call me next time, I’ll offer either sage or drunken advice. Your odds are 50/50 at best.

Crolfs, man...I didn't mean YOU specifically
It was a long and twisted night. I’m afraid I was out of it early on.

Not to highjack, but no..
Yeah, unfortunately I am planning a surprise party for the 29th and golf outing the 6th. And I had an all weekender last weekend. I haven’t had time to anything..
While I am hijacking, the golf outing is open to all!! 8am on the 6th at Cedar Trace GC.. More info go to http://duffersopen.org/. I would love to have a foursome or two from RR join us.

Fuckin' A - no party in the park
Oh well maybe we could all go camping at Morgans this fall:. do a little canoe trip, sit around the fire at night, singing camp songs, reminiscing about the BRM and cook smores and hot dogs on the grill. At the stroke of midnight we could all share some cool-aid, a la Jim Jones and awake in baseball heaven. Gof knows we’ve been in BB hell too long.

Don't be hatin'.
I didn’t quite get the feedback I was hoping for and no one offered to help.. Seriously this birthday thing for the misses took precedence. I haven’t had a part for her in the 9 years I’ve known her (this is her 29th) and my golf outing is always big.. We might see you at Pops place..

I don't know..
I doubt it will be busy.. I didn’t get the request in to reserve it but there are two shelters and 3 fields. I’m sure if everyone wanted to get together there it would be fine.
There were a few folks that couldn’t do it until 4, so that was a big part of the confusion..

I can't do it at all now
I’m house hunting.
I’m more a hello man and a welcome man than a good-bye man. And to me Adam Dunn was more a person than a player.
