Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Farmers only: Juan and on and on

Juan Francisco
Francisco

Triple-A: Paul Janish laced a walk-off single to center as the Bats won 4-3. Josh Roenicke gave up a run, and Matt Belisle (5-1) got the win.

High A: Juan Francisco was 2 for 4 and homered again -- 4th straight game, 6th of 7 -- as Sarasota won 3-1. This guy is showing serious studitude. He's had at least a hit and an RBI in each of the past 9 games, batting .378 with the 6 homers and 15 RBIs since an 0 for 7 night on August 2. Logan Parker was 3 for 4, Todd Frazier 1 for 4.

Low A: Zach Cozart was 3 for 5 with a homer in Dayton's 8-7 win. Mace Thurman struck out 7 in 4.1 innings of perfect relief, and Devin Mesoraco was 1 for 4.

Rookies: David Sappelt was 3 for 4 in Billings' 8-7 loss. ... Juan Duran was 2 for 4 in the G-Reds' 10-9 win, and Jonathan Correa, Elvin Silvestre and Cesar Colmenares were suspended 50 games for using steroids.

Over at RedsZone

I was reading through one of the knock-down-drag-out threads on Drew Stubbs when I ran across an interesting idea: the Reds could clean up the glut of power-hitting, defensively suspect infielders in their system by moving one to catcher.

The particular poster suggested that Juan Francisco was the best candidate given his age and lack of ability at 3B. A bit of a ballsy move, but one Jocketty has successfully overseen before with Terry Steinbach.

Can we just bring Juan Duran up now?

Seriously, he’d be as good as everybody else, and people would actually pay to come see the super phenom 17 year old kid, even if he does hit .100 against Major League pitching…

You're right

That would get me to the ballpark this year. Otherwise, fuggem I say. They’re not getting one more penny of my money.

How can such a good looking man be so bad at getting to first base?

I have vouchers for 4 field level tickets

so we have to catch at least one more game, though unfortunately it has to be from Mon-Thurs.

I’m more a hello man and a welcome man than a good-bye man. And to me Adam Dunn was more a person than a player.

What games do you have?

I might be interested in purchasing two tix for a game if you wish to unload them. I’m most interested in Friday or Saturday Sept 5 or 6 if available.

Ought to be an 'interesting' line up tonight.

No matter what it going to be bleak.
Can’t wait to see the Batting Order.

Gotta hit the lanes tonight….no time to watch a bunch of kids trying to play at MLB.

Now batting #44

You can tell your uncle stuff that you could not tell your dad. That is kind of the role of an uncle. I feel very much like a father sometimes but sometimes I feel like a teammate.
