Jim Callis of Baseball America discusses picks, including Alonso
Jim Callis thinks Alonso will definitely sign by Friday. If he doesn't Callis says, he will lose all his leverage next year after his senior season. Another interesting nugget: If the Reds don't sign Alonso, they will get the No. 8 pick next year, but if they don't sign that pick, then they lose it. So we would then lose our leverage. Both sides need to sign by Friday's deadline. (Callis comes on around the 19-minute mark and discusses Alonso around 29-30 minutes.)

If this Dunn thing is true
Then signing Yonder has to absolutely be a priority. And let’s just play shuffle for the rest of the year. Valentin and AndyFan can play first, Votto can play left, and Phillips can play shortstop.

Kevin Goldstein at BPro
recently commented about the unsigned first-rounders. He thinks Yonder will sign above slot but a few million below the $7mm demand, with a major league deal.
