Farmers only and the curse of Tomo Ohka
Triple-A: Drew T. Anderson was 4 for 5 and Shaun Cumberland was 3 for 4 in the Bats' 6-3 loss. Bobby Livingston gave up 9 hits in 6 innings and had 0 strikeouts, and Tomo Ohka struck out 9 while allowing 10 hits for Charlotte.
Double-A: Chattanooga was 1-hit again, this time losing 7-0. Craig Tatum did the honors this night -- in the 8th.
High A: Matt Klinker scattered 6 hits and struck out 5 in his first start for Sarasota, a 1-0 win. Todd Frazier was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, and Zach Stewart worked a perfect 9th for the save, striking out 2.
Low A: Brandon Waring was 2 for 4 in Dayton's 6-3 loss. Devin Mesoraco was 1 for 4.
Rookies: Cody Puckett was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs as Billings won 7-2. David Sappelt was 2 for 5 with a triple. ... The G-Reds went without a starting pitcher again and lost 3-2. I don't know why they do that. Maybe it's a Gulf Coast thing? ... The D-Reds had only one player with more than 1 hit but won 9-0. Luis Machuca struck out 6 in 7 innings.

If the Bats are looking for a shortstop ...
From the Washington Post::
After tonight’s game, the Nationals released two veterans, Felipe Lopez and Paul Lo Duca. They also announced that Emilio Bonifacio and Elijah Dukes will both be recalled.

I like how the Nats released Lopez
to make room for Alberto Gonzalez. Washington never learns.

They really wanted the Attorney General
The Yankees didn’t really want to trade him, but I guess they got an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Not sure what they’ll do for a SS if they need one. I suppose there’s A-Rod, but he says he’s a third baseman now, and they’ve been reluctant to use him at SS, even in emergencies. Betemit can play some SS. And there’s Nick Green down in Scranton.

Gonzalez did really well last night
1 for 2 (double) and two walks, with a run scored, and some nifty defense. The Nats traded away Jhonny Nunez. You gotta wonder if Peralta is pissed that someone else spells their name that way.

So where are the new guys going?
The pitcher is coming to the majors and the shortstop is going to AAA, right?

Answering my own question...
From yahoo...
Nick Masset, obtained Thursday from the Chicago White Sox in the Ken Griffey Jr. trade, goes immediately into the Reds bullpen. But general manager Walt Jocketty said if there is a need, the 26-year-old right-hander could move into the rotation.
"If one of our starting pitchers goes down, we’re in a bind," said Jocketty, mentioning that the team’s top two Class AAA starters, Daryl Thompson and Matt Maloney, both are on the disabled list.
...
The other player acquired from Chicago, second baseman Danny Richar, might head to Class AAA Louisville instead of Cincinnati. Richar, 25, was hitting .262 for Class AAA Charlotte after missing most of the season’s first two months due to a fractured rib.
And of course he’s a 2B, not SS. Apparently, he has in fact been sent to the minors.

And
Hairston was 1 for 4 with a single, while Dickerson was 1 for 4 with a triple and a walk. Could we please call him up to replace Patterson? Please?
