Griffeys Replacement, Nelson Cruz?
According to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan, the Reds may pursue Rangers' outfielder Nelson Cruz to replace Ken Griffey Jr. in right field.
Cruz, 28, is hitting a ridiculous .345/.436/.716 with 37 home runs in 97 minor league games. Of course, this is his fourth shot at Triple A.
Rangers to to Marlins about Lairs, and Reds about Cruz
by T.R. Sullivan, MLB.com
If the Reds trade Ken Griffey Jr. to the White Sox then they could go after Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, who is tearing up Triple A Oklahoma but is blocked at the big league level. The Rangers could also try to move outfielder Marlon Byrd and make room for Cruz. The Rangers are still talking to the Marlins about catcher Gerald Laird. The Reds are also interested. Nelson Cruz would be a nice replacement for Corey

It's not so tiny.
He had a double in 5 ABs in 2005. Okay, tiny sample size.
He had 130 ABs in 41 games with Texas in 2006, hitting .223/.261/.385. Still decently small sample size, but…
He hit .235/.287/.384 in 307 ABs in 96 games in 2007. Not such a small sample size. And he was 26 then. Now he’s 28 and hitting well in the minors. But, you know…

I think Jay Bruce looks like a decent replacement for Griffey personally...
Maybe we should work on getting a long-term Center-Fielder?

I would think that Jocketty et al will do preicisely that.
Jerry Jr. has bee good but above his career norms and he’s injured so much. I would like to see a RH bat in centerfield maybe one with some pop.I don’t think that Dusty and the boys are going to move BP to ss so we should be looking for the new ‘Joe Morgan’.
You can tell your uncle stuff that you could not tell your dad. That is kind of the role of an uncle. I feel very much like a father sometimes but sometimes I feel like a teammate.
