This should have been a series where we won 3 out of 4 or swept.
This team finds ways to disappoint. Damn I wanted this win really bad.
I got 99 problems but a job ain't one.

Exactly
should have been at least 3 if not 4 wins. I’m getting really tired of 13 years of this team finding ways to lose.

I'm just glad
the players lost it on their own and that no part of this can be blamed on the stupid Coery Patterson pinch-run for Dunn.
Part of that error on Edwin belongs to Phillips. He was really late getting to the bag, and in fact had started walking in slowly when Encarnacion came up to throw.

i thought the same thing
on the replay it looked like BP wasnt even interested in covering the bag and only moved to do it when he saw the whites of EdE’s eyes. EdE still should have thrown it to the bag and not the man, but it was just a bad play all around. oh well. it only lost one game.

I dunno. I'm confused.

The Real Estate Pros
Next Saturday at 7pm ET, “A Home Run for Trademark” airs on The Real Estate Pros.
A real-estate team gives two ballplayers a second chance; moving a home and transforming it into a museum.
One of the ballplayers is Josh Hamilton. He’s helping renovate Shoeless Joe Jackson’s home.

I was at the game today
It was HAWT! I baked in the sun, but that giant star’s rays were impervious to my SPF15 sunblock. I’m still white as your typical suburban whitey.
It was a disappointing game to lose, but I didn’t see the last inning as I broke tradition and left before the end (full disclosure, I did the same on Thursday and they lost that one too – it’s all my fault). We had to get home to relieve the babysitter though, so I had little choice. I didn’t see EdE’s error, but I honestly don’t want to. I’m sure it was frustrating enough.
It was a fun game to watch though. I find that I don’t mind games that go back and forth early on, but I really hate losing leads late. The three homers by the Reds were nice to see, and I believe my exact words on Ramon Castro’s home run were, “That won’t make it out.” I blame GABP for ruining the game.
I haven’t read the game thread, but I’m assuming that it was pointed out many times how Pelfrey threw very few pitches and such. It really seems like the Reds help starters go deep into games frequently. I wonder if that’s true…
The guy in front of me was a big time Dunn basher. When the ball dropped 10 feet in front of Dunn on a line drive – “That guy is a liability out there.” When Dunn hit a home run to tie it at 1-1 – “What do you know, another solo shot.” When Dunn walked in the 9th – “See, he freezes up when the game matters.” It really made me sad. I’m not the biggest fan of BP, but when he does something good, I’m happy. It’s sad to me that some people just don’t want to see the good things that Dunn does on the field. And by no means was this guy representative of the fans at the game. There were boos on the ball that dropped in front of Dunn, but there was lots of applause for his home run and the fans even seemed to appreciate his walk in the ninth. That last one was actually a pleasant surprise.
Not that Patterson’s appearance by any means cost them the game, but was it just me or was it very awkward timing? Three pitches had been thrown to EdE before Patterson was sent out to pinch run. It was almost like someone fell asleep at the wheel there. It was probably a coincidence, but EdE’s swings after Patterson came in the game looked sloppy.
All-in-all, based on the action that I’ve seen of the 4 games in the series, the Reds finished the series 3-0-1. I’m happy with that.

on tv
they said the reds were timing duaner’s delivery for three pitches before they sent patterson out there because they wanted to know if it was feasible to steal off him. seems like something that can be done in the video room, but hey, at least it’s a reason.

uh, yeah
you’d think that kind of stuff would get done in the video room, or even perhaps the day before when the guy pitched. its embarrassing.

why does dusty share that with us?
like i would have only rolled my eyes twice if it were to give Patterson a little time to warm up his legs, i mean it was a cold day today, but this is just insane.

Interesting if that's the case because as I recall, Patterson only went on one pitch - if that
and I believe that EdE and Votto both swung at every pitch after Patterson came in to the game. You would think that they would put the hold sign on to give Patterson the chance to steal, if they were bringing him in to steal.
I don’t believe that this was why the Reds lost, but it seems indicative to me of the things I don’t like about Dusty’s style. It’s seems to me he does a lot of fiddling just for the sake of fiddling. Bunt calls with players who never bunt, stealing with just about anybody, and I’d be shocked if any manager implements the double-switch more than Dusty. And a lot of those instances make it seem like he’s not completely paying attention to the game situation. Bringing Patterson in when they did yesterday felt very awkward – one of the many times this team has felt awkward this season.

“It’s a lousy night to be an atheist!”
But Hamilton ended up losing. Doesn’t that mean there is no god? :-D
And hey, timing the pitcher. Maybe they read Blue’s memo.

Off topic Ohio stuff
Yup, this Bengals season is gonna be one to remember.
And were any of you Columbus based Red Reporters involved in the fight between Crew hooligans and West Ham hooligans? If so, good on ya.

yeah i saw this this morning
and now i like carson palmer even more! As Ash said Saturday, Ohio State probably won’t lose that game by 30 points.

I also like CP even better after that comment.
And as for the Crew-West Ham fight, I can’t believe there were that many West Ham fans in Columbus… the soccernet article says it started when a group of West Ham fans came into the Crew supporter’s corner and started making trouble… I’d say it’s their fault.
