Marlins announcers believe OBP is real and spectacular
so, yeah, they are better than Grande and Welsh
Some muthafucka’s always trying to ice-skate uphill
Dunn's OBP is 170 points higher than his batting average
If he finished the season that way, it would have to be some kind of record

OK, I really did not see the 9th inning going like this.
But I am completely and unequivocally for it.
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
bad side of the inning
that screwed me in the fantasy league from getting a save by Cordero
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
that's why
You don’t take Bako out of the game. ;-)
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
"when you start giving up HRs to Paul Bako, you know you've made some bad pitches"
But I don’t mean that as a discredit to Bako…
Marlins announcers make me giggle.
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
now only 579 behind Griffey
Great job Bako.
I'd love for them to not bring Coco in.
He blew a save two days ago, he doesn’t need the work.

seriously
trade Patterson for Cody Ross? Straight-up or pay them the money to even out?
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
Straight up, and we pay give them back the money they paid us for him.

Thank goodness for that banner tomorrow night at GABP
I was thinking we needed a shortstop, but a nice banner will work just fine.

Uggla
Marlin’s crew was just talking about how Dan Uggla got his start. Basically, second base was Pokey Reese’s job. But he just left and Uggla filled in.
We could see him at the RR Outing
Although apparently the buzzards are circling Bowden’s leather pants.

funny story I have about buzzards and the Anacostia river
I’ll share it with you at that game.

that's wise
let him fuck up your draft, then fire him.

They drafted Crow this year
Who we were pretty high on for awhile. We’ll see if that throwing motion of his becomes a problem, but I don’t know that it constitutes “fucking up” the draft.
by Brendanukkah on Jun 9, 2008 10:19 PM EDT up reply actions
True
And I’m not sure who else they drafted, but after awhile it gets to be a crapshoot anyway. He fucked our team up with some of his first round picks here, but I don’t think Crow belongs in that conversation.

Anybody have “Bako multihomer game”? Someone had to have called 600.
by Brendanukkah on Jun 9, 2008 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions
they did call 600
but they forgot about the ever dangerous Mr Bako
Bako sounds like a character from a spy novel
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
I was to meet my contact at midnight in St. Peter's Square in Bucharest
He would identify himself as “Bako.”
by Brendanukkah on Jun 9, 2008 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions
I guess that would have made more sense
I just wanted a spy novel to take place in Bucharest. It seems underutilized.
by Brendanukkah on Jun 9, 2008 10:26 PM EDT up reply actions
I've been to Bucharest
It is neither underutilized (Red Rabbit) or underrated.

Shortstop would have said that
Have some dignity, Brian B.

I hope it means Bako hitting a home run after anyone
Because if it’s just Bako hitting a home run after Griffey, that means Bako is batting cleanup, and I don’t care what kind of service he’s getting from the Catcher Witch, that’s just not a good thing.
Hmm. It occurs to me that we now have two starters named Paul. I wonder when the last time that happened was…
by Brendanukkah on Jun 9, 2008 10:28 PM EDT up reply actions
Baker could send Bako up out of order and everyone in between them would be out.
Then Bako would be free to go back-to-bako with Griffey.
Last time two Pauls started in the same Reds lineup...
September 14, 1980 – Paul Moskau was the starting pitcher and Paul Householder started in RF. They also played together in 1981, but never started on the same day.
They’ve never had two Pauls start where one was not a pitcher, but on May 17, 1990, Paul Noce had his only at bat in a Reds uniform when he pinch hit for Ron Oester and he singled. Starting in RF that day was Paul O’Neill.
The only other combinations of Pauls on the same roster were Paul Blair and Paul Moskau in 1979 and Paul Derringer and Paul Gehrman in 1937.

Post-game question
I have had very little luck with logging into this site with Firefox 3 (either the beta or the RC) on Windows. I have done it on my Ubuntu machine. Has anyone done it with Windows?

when I try to log-in, I get kicked to the SBNation home page
it’s like I’m being rejected, over and over again
If you're not having fun, stop participating.
That happens to me with Firefox 2
When I forget to allow scripting. Both RR and SBNation have to be allowed.

thanks, I'll recheck those settings
I allowed them such a long time ago that I haven’t checked them in a while.

try contacting the site developers. They may have run into this issue before. You can get to them through this link: http://sbnation.com/pages/contact

i was listening to this game on the radio
on the way to the bar. i got out of the car just as Hairston stole 3rd, and walked into the bar just as the montage for Griffey started. needless to say, i couldnt drink enough to get over my disappointment in missing The Moment.
