Maybe for our Ross to catch the pitch?
Gameday says passed ball. I am assuming Ross should have stopped it.
Yeah, it was pathetic.
It was a routine pitch where he closed his glove before the ball got there.

Bako stays in for Ross
Any idea why? I would say that Ross is normally a better defensive catcher, but it sounds like he made a pretty bad play on that passed ball. Still, just what kind of upgrade is Bako exactly?
dusty is just setting burton up for another two inning outing

Everything I've heard says he's pretty bad
And that first base is that all he can play. They say he fields his position well enough, but I’d imagine he’s not any better than Votto.
I think
they don’t assume the out without the error, but they do assume he would have been on second…where he would have scored anyway?
no way
our ross .246 > their ross .220

Against the Reds
Cody Ross has an OPS of .969 and an OPS+ of 143.
On the bright side, he’s got an OPS+ of 60 against the Cubs.

But you may be right

I saw it on Star Trek. The last World Series ever is in 2032. The Yankees beat the London Kings in six games.

He burned Valentin? They’re backup catcher-less?
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Yes.
Only Dusty Baker, when given three catchers on the roster, can burn both of his backup catchers before the 9th inning.

Really only for the surrounding scenery
The fireworks are pretty good, but not really anything better than any other city. It’s just pretty sweet to watch them exploding over the Capitol and the Washington Monument. I watched them from right in front of the Iwo Jima Memorial. You’d feel very patriotic.
But if you’re going to make one trip to DC, try to come the weekend of Aug. 1-3, when the Reds are in town. I’m trying to put together a RR outing.
by Brendanukkah on Jun 7, 2008 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions
My family used to see the fireworks in DC a lot when I was younger
(I have an aunt who lived in northern VA)
It was fun enough, but DC around July 4 is kind of a bear in general. I don’t know if I’d do it now that I’m old enough to get more annoyed by that sort of thing.

I remember walking out a door here a couple years ago
and feeling like I was in a swimming pool. The air was so humid I could feel it moving around me like I never had before. DC still gets my vote as more humid.
