Bako stays in for Ross

Any idea why? I would say that Ross is normally a better defensive catcher, but it sounds like he made a pretty bad play on that passed ball. Still, just what kind of upgrade is Bako exactly?

are you in DC?

Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds

by Caleb on Jun 7, 2008 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Really only for the surrounding scenery

The fireworks are pretty good, but not really anything better than any other city. It’s just pretty sweet to watch them exploding over the Capitol and the Washington Monument. I watched them from right in front of the Iwo Jima Memorial. You’d feel very patriotic.

But if you’re going to make one trip to DC, try to come the weekend of Aug. 1-3, when the Reds are in town. I’m trying to put together a RR outing.

by Brendanukkah on Jun 7, 2008 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions

My family used to see the fireworks in DC a lot when I was younger

(I have an aunt who lived in northern VA)

It was fun enough, but DC around July 4 is kind of a bear in general. I don’t know if I’d do it now that I’m old enough to get more annoyed by that sort of thing.
