Line up from Fay
Jerry Hairston Jr. ss
Jay Bruce cf
Ken Griffey Jr. rf
Brandon Phillips 2b
Adam Dunn lf
Andy Phillips 3b
Joey Votto 1b
David Ross c
Branson Arroyo p
v. LH Scott Olsen
And EdE is out with a swollen elbow after getting drilled last night.
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
speaking of Fay, why doesn’t he give Redreporter any love on his blogroll?
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
too much criticism of him, i guess. he’s about the dullest beat writer i’ve come across, never breaks any news, never asks any tough questions, and has a blog filled with so many typos that sometimes you can’t understand what he’s saying.
oh I agree
but I’m sure some of the others listed,
The Reds Rocket
Red Hot Mama
On Baseball and the Reds
The Cutting Edge
Redleg Nation
Reds Rundown
criticize him as well.
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
are all of those still in operation? i know redleg nation and justin’s are. i haven’t been able to keep on top of blogging since my laptop broke and i’ve been using a dial up connection on a pc. rhm isn’t even a reds blog anymore.
Reds Rocket is still up and running
I find that guy to be pretty damn funny, and wish he would post here.
not sure
from Dusty
“He wants to play,” Dusty Baker said. “That’s a swollen, rusty hinge. That’s takes away bat speed.”
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Branson is going to be good tonight
Although everything he throws will have an eerie, Pat Boone-ish quality.
Well...
...the Yankees considered him a butcher anywhere but at 1B. He started out as a SS, but was quickly moved down the defensive spectrum until he stuck at 1B. He was considered a very good first baseman.
I am wondering if maybe they just didn’t bother teaching him to play the positions. They started using him at 2B and 2B a lot in Triple-A last year, and he seemed to do all right. And the Bats used him at 2B and 3B.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Thompson throwing for Louisville tonight
2-0, 0.64 ERA for the Bats this season. Opponents hitting .200 against him. He has struck out 12 and walked 2.
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Thanks for linking it, evidently I failed the interwebs.
I used the link device but it did not work for me.
I just hope he partied it up last night like A Night at the Roxbury.
Then the Reds can pound the lefty.
friday night in Miami after a win
start on saturday does not bode well for BA
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
it was a piece of e$pn garbage
what’s so special about a kid that’s taking longer than others to grow up? his kind are a dime a dozen. it’s disney fluff is what it is. because he’s a perceived jerk, his partying is bad, but since bronson’s a nice guy, it’s ok for him. oooooh, how i loathe the world wide misleader in sports, as mr. rosecrans likes to say.
there are a lot of his kind out there
but if you have to be tasered following a dui stop you are, in my humble opinion, a jerk. I just think that he has such a gift, the ability to play MLB, and he doesn’t really appreciate it.
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
When Kepp come back
Keppinger seems to be fairly close to being off the disabled list. What happens next? Dusty isn’t saying. I would think Hairston deserves a regular place in center – I think he showed he was good out there and I don’t think Stubbs is ready. Bruce to right (everyone bow at the mention of his name). And then that leave Grif.. until he get 600 he’s in right. So.. I think Hairston and Kepp move around until next year. Any thoughts?
I think you nailed it either Kepp or Hairston becomes utility.
I think a good lineup would be
1. Hairston cf
2. Keppinger ss
3. Bruce rf
4. Dunn lf
5. Phillips 2b
6. Votto 1b
7. Encarcion 3b
8. Bako/Ross C
Hopefully you trade Griffey for something to a contender. I still think Boston might want him for DH to replace Ortiz. There is talk he might be out for more than the 1 month.
Would you start him over Keppinger?
I like Janish, but he barely starts now when Keppinger is out, I imagine he will ride the bench even longer when he is off the DL.
The even more interesting question is what happens if and when Gonzalez comes back?
watching Detroit-Cleveland
why is tHom so much more enjoyable on Fox broadcasts than the Reds?
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
He is so damn critical on Reds broadcasts. He has a great voice and does great play by play
but it is really annoying to hear him hyperanalyze why striking out is bad.
Holy Crap
there is a 9 year old singing New York, New York for the race. And he is doing a pretty nice job
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Crimson King, I like that lineup
I’m hoping it looks like that next year (and even this year), especially if they resign Dunn. I think Janish makes an excellent defensive backup – and I mean that as no insult to Janish. But who knows what Red’s management is thinking.
Extension, desire, Google, MRI, yadda yadda yadda
This has quickly become like flogging a dead horse.
There weren’t any Eight Belles-ish incidents at the Belmont today, right?
my uneducated answer would be yes
It looked like he pulled up a bit about 3/4 of the way through and the jockey never pushed it after that
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Louisville score 4 in the bottom of the first
4-1 with Thompson on the mound
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
The Columbus Clippers
get a mention from Welsh in regard to the cowbells that is a give away tonight.
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Columbus Clippers ring your bell
But why cowbells? I never thought of Columbus as a dairying area.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Thompson oops
through two innings 4 hits, 4 runs, all earned. 2 HR’s allowed
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
why hasn't it started?
Is it raining or something?
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Oh my god, the rhythm is getting stronger!
Soon we won’t be able to control ourselves any longer! Run for your lives!
Looks like we're on.
Cherry starting things off with a bunt single.

I just learned from wikipedia...
that apparently part of the deal for the new Marlins stadium is that they’ll be called the Miami Marlins.
Had anybody heard about that? I somehow missed this.
Lobster?
Oh, Portland, Oregon. The Portland, OR Sloe Gin Fizzes. If that ain’t love, then tell me what is.
sorry, just got done cooking dinner
if hairston led off with a bunt single, how did bruce get to 2nd?
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
I just saw a white guy slide into third on Griffey's fly out.
I think Cherry is black, right?

GD is not providing much information...
It still hasn’t registered Griffey’s 3-0 flyout to centre, either.
GameDay still hasn't shown any pitches thrown to Griffey
I can’t tell if the slowness comes from them or my computer.
Ah well...
Hit well but to straightaway center.

You live in DC, right?
I’m trying to put together a RR outing for the weekend the Reds are in town, Aug. 1-3. You in?

it was two feet fair and then just dropped off the table and went foul
They had no chance to get him at first

Darn!
First Gameday screws up and then the Kentucky station I listen to hear the Reds play here in Boston is choosing to broadcast the Kentucky Girls Softball Tournament. Even more impressive, it seems like they are broadcasting via cell phones. Stay Classy Eastern KY!

just seems early in the game
if you can get Treanor then face the pitcher with 2 down, rather than the leadoff hitter with two down and bases loaded

I would look for the GIBP.

by Paul Householder on Jun 7, 2008 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions
I wasn't being serious.
I think if you do that you end up with a reasonably high likelihood of the leadoff hitter up with the bases loaded and two outs, which I’d rather avoid for Treaner up with two on and one out.
I would.
Perhaps he wouldn’t have the take sign.

At this rate I might opt for a Scott Olsen night. Go out, get some wings, get a little drunk, hit on the coat check girl.
I think Olsen and Arroyo
made plans to go get liquored up together and piss off fat women.
Thompson in Lville

mlb.com has a poll at the bottom:
What is the best statistic for measuring a hitter’s worth?
Batting average
On-base percentage
RBIs
Since yeah, no other statistics exist for such purposes…
Easy Batting Average...always batting average.
And wins for pitchers. only two stats that are needed.

there’ve only been nine ever, and williams did it twice. just wow.
For as many crappy at-bats as he has
I’m always kind of shocked that he puts up the numbers he does.
One lousy Jay Bruce double
(which doesn’t even count, because he’s going to get one of those per game, baseline) Our offense is looking woeful. Olsen isn’t this good! He’s been getting roughed up for the last month, before we strolled into town.
