speaking of Fay, why doesn’t he give Redreporter any love on his blogroll?

Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds

too much criticism of him, i guess. he’s about the dullest beat writer i’ve come across, never breaks any news, never asks any tough questions, and has a blog filled with so many typos that sometimes you can’t understand what he’s saying.

Branson is going to be good tonight

Although everything he throws will have an eerie, Pat Boone-ish quality.

by Brendanukkah on Jun 7, 2008 6:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Well...

...the Yankees considered him a butcher anywhere but at 1B. He started out as a SS, but was quickly moved down the defensive spectrum until he stuck at 1B. He was considered a very good first baseman.

I am wondering if maybe they just didn’t bother teaching him to play the positions. They started using him at 2B and 2B a lot in Triple-A last year, and he seemed to do all right. And the Bats used him at 2B and 3B.

All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?

When Kepp come back

Keppinger seems to be fairly close to being off the disabled list. What happens next? Dusty isn’t saying. I would think Hairston deserves a regular place in center – I think he showed he was good out there and I don’t think Stubbs is ready. Bruce to right (everyone bow at the mention of his name). And then that leave Grif.. until he get 600 he’s in right. So.. I think Hairston and Kepp move around until next year. Any thoughts?

by EJ on Jun 7, 2008 6:07 PM EDT reply actions

I think you nailed it either Kepp or Hairston becomes utility.

I think a good lineup would be
1. Hairston cf
2. Keppinger ss
3. Bruce rf
4. Dunn lf
5. Phillips 2b
6. Votto 1b
7. Encarcion 3b
8. Bako/Ross C

Hopefully you trade Griffey for something to a contender. I still think Boston might want him for DH to replace Ortiz. There is talk he might be out for more than the 1 month.

GD has video of Helms's stop and Gonzalez's double

They look very similar, except that Bruce was out. Alas.

on a related note

can you believe frank did it in 66 and yaz did it in 67 in back to back years? and we haven’t had any since?

there’ve only been nine ever, and williams did it twice. just wow.

One lousy Jay Bruce double

(which doesn’t even count, because he’s going to get one of those per game, baseline) Our offense is looking woeful. Olsen isn’t this good! He’s been getting roughed up for the last month, before we strolled into town.
