espn.com Article on Dustbag and the Youth Movement
Some highlights:
Volquez is the first pitcher since Al Benton of the 1945 Detroit Tigers to allow two or fewer runs in his first 12 starts in a season. (Hadn't realized this).
Even the trade for which Krivsky was most vilified -- Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez to Washington for bullpen help -- is looking much better in hindsight. (Jerry, tell me you were drunk when you wrote this)
"Watch all the kids and how they gravitate toward me," Baker said. "The people I get along best with, honestly, are elderly people and young people. The people that don't like me most of the time are people my own age, because I don't think like them." (WTF?)
The manager gained a greater appreciation for Griffey when he passed through the trainer's room recently and saw the "ugliest pothole scar I've ever seen" on Griffey's hamstring. (WTF is a pothole scar?)
"Junior has given a lot to this game and this city," Baker said. "You go look at his body and his injury list, and he's left a lot of bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments out on that field. You dig up that field, and there's a lot of Junior bones in it." (Who says this?)

FOR THE LAST TIME (well probably not)
The Trade took away a fourth of our offense when we were in the playoff hunt. Our offense tanked for the rest of the season and we were eliminated the second to last day of the season.
THE TRADE RUINED OCTOBER 2006. It doesn’t matter if it “looks good” now. It was the timing.
I will FOREVER be VERY bitter about it. Even NOW it makes me sad. Sniff, sniff… (Boy, got the caps working today!)

the starting staff also tanked in August and September
Milton was kinda ok that year, and he had arm surgery in September, Claussen didn’t make it passed June, Ramirez had arm problems, the Reds were left with Kim, Michakcilicickickcikaoiureoiapurepoiruick, Belisle, and I others who I remember seeing listed on ESPN, and thinking who the hell is that guy. It gets less press but I think DFA’ing Dave Williams (who had options) in May was a bad decision, because he was better than most of the guys who started in September not named Harang or Arroyo.

i am not saying he was a good pitcher
i am saying that it was unwise to release him, when he could have toiled in AAA for a while. He couldn’t have been worse than Joe Mays, and the others.

YOUR comments, Steve
are funny, by the way. It’s just those people who get paid to write about baseball that drive me mad.
Sounds like GAB is a great place to go for Halloween.

Thanks...
I think its my new found obsession with FJM that inspired me to comment.

Dusty is kind of like Tobias Funke
maybe he should get a tape and record himself for a day and then play it back

One more thing (not AR related)
I am a (relatively) young person and I don’t like Dusty. My dad is Dusty’s age and he loves Dusty. Just sayin’.

I'm 17 and I think Dusty is a moron.
So much for the young people’s vote…

Uh. I am almost 60 and I know that Dusty is incompetent.
He might be a moron, how many wives does he have to bring him pheasants?
As I posted recently (see Juror #5)- w/the talent we have to be 9 1/2 games out in the NL central = dismissal.

"Was it for the Reds organization or all of baseball?" Bruce said.

Oh, I get it
It was an old thread that was bumped up.
What happened to the 600 Club Revisited fanpost that was up and then disappeared? Caleb, are you still working on it?
