Yep that's me...i've been doing jury duty this week (and next). If you've done it well you know how important it is to be a part of our judicial system. I of course can't talk about the case I'm sitting on except to sat that it involves a serial killer, 3 strippers, an alleged pedophile, a monkey, a Russian Bride and a well know Westside Bingo caller.
Back to the Reds for a moment;
The offense on this team is more talented than it is showing. Although Freel is down and Griffey's 'knee' is hurting him,this team still has good enough offensive weapons to score more than 0 to 3 runs a game. I, unfortunately, was born w/out the sabremetric gene, but I've seen enough teams over the years to rate this one as capable of scoring more than it does right now. It strikes me that a slight change in the batting order and the reduction of playing time for CoPat and Paul Bako could help the offense a lot.
Then there's Dusty. This guy amazes me. His batting order, his use of pinch hitters, his general strategy, e.g. who and when to bunt, who to pinch run etc has been contrived, predictable and exceptionally ineffective. the Reds seem to win in spite of him. The only consistently good thing Dusty's done is the inclusion of Jerry Jr. in the lead off spot.
We have a decent rotation, a good pen, an improving, although barely adequate bench and w/the inclusion of David Ross and P. Janish at SS (until Keppinger is back) a competitive lineup.I believe the Red's offense to be hampered by Dusty Baker's 'small ball' and 'aggressive at bats' philosophy. At 9 1/2 games out at this point in the season, I say that Dusty is Guilty as charged and the punishment of termination be immediately effected.
