It will be interesting what Dunn will bring in a trade.
My guess 4-5 A/AA prospects in the 19-22 range. Will help with depth during this winter’s dealings.
I just realized that his full no trade clause is up in 10 days.

Not worth It
Most prospects, top or otherwise, don’t pan out. Trading Dunn for wannabes makes no sense.
jason castro got drafted
that should make him feel better about losing american idol…
i just hope they don’t drug test him

except for the fact that it wasn't?
at the top of the wall. It wasn’t like Victorino took it away.

Griff getting a standing O
Nice gesture by Philly fans.

Would have been a nicer gesture
for Victorino to just give it the ol’ Canseco nudge over the fence. They’re up 5-0. Do a dude a solid.
i have heard of taking one for the team,
but taking one for the other team?
Tanzen!

C-Pat pinch hitting.
Thank goodness. Now we finally can get back in the game.

Hamels threw 56 pitches over the last 6 innings
Aggressive indeed.
Behold
Homer Bailey and his incredible shrinking K rate!
This frightens me. You can’t suddenly abandon what got you the majors and be a successful nibbler, can you?
I don't think he was nibbling
I think they were just making contact on his pitches. He only threw 89 pitches and had faced 3 batters in the 7th.
Then again, Hamels only threw 103 pitches and he pitched 9 innings. Way to make him work, Reds hitters.

Really makes you miss Scott Hatteberg.
Maybe nibbling wasn’t the right word. It’s just that he’s gone from being a strikeout pitcher to . . . whatever he is now. Just different. I don’t like it.
you don't like 1K per 4 BB's or whatever?

I think at some point
The Reds have to realize that not trying the last 4 innings and swinging at every damn pitch in order to catch a plane is a very counterproductive strategy. They fought tooth and nail for that game yesterday, but it seemed like Dusty had no interest in winning this game once they were down 4-0. That’s bullshit, and it erases all the good from yesterday’s win. It’s cliche, but if you only try to win the “big” games, you’re gonna be a crappy team because the season is just too long.
Jeff, we hardly knew ye...
not to sound like that one guy
but i was just looking through gameday, where is Bailey’s velocity? I didn’t see one pitch over 88 MPH. That seems troubling.

at least, that's the rumor

The gun for Comcast Philadelphia
had Homer at 91 to 94. If he was actually throwing 88, then so was Hamels, Bret Myers, Cordero, Lincoln and just about everyone else.

Marty said
he’d been at 91-94 the first six innings before losing velocity in the 7th.
Jeff, we hardly knew ye...
Bailey's velocity is a major concern
I just watched his last season start on disc from last year against the Astros. Very consistant around 92-95mph with some pitches hitting up into the 96-98 range. His consistant velocity wasn’t quite what it was in 2006(more 93-94 rather than 94-95) but it was close.
When that kid throw in the mid-90’s, his can strikeout batters. When he is throwing 91-92(with some balls higher) he is much less effective.
I guess velocity is important to him. Hopefully he extends his mechanics and powers up.
Honestly
I’ve wondered myself where his 97 mph heat went. But if he’s getting guys out I don’t care if he throws it up there underhand behind his back. I’ll take him giving up 2 ER in 6.1 IP to the Phillies lineup all day.
"Got a bump on the ole noggin, but otherwise god. And I get a new vehicle probably, w00t!"
Cubs-Dodgers
Wow. Cubs go up 1 in the ninth. Kerry Wood loads the bases and goes 2-0 on Kemp. Kemp swings at a high fastball over his head which would have made it 3-0. Kerry ends up striking him out. Cubs win 5-4. Kemp should go jump off the upper deck.
