"Mack-A-Whack" now with the Bats!
Rob "Mack-A-Whack" Mackowiak has been signed by the Reds, and will play in AAA Lousiville. From thebaseballcube.com :
Never the official starter at any position during his baseball career, Rob "Mack-A-Whack" Mackowiak has always been an aberration of the typical idea of a bench player, getting over 450 AB's in 2004 and 2005 as a "Super-Backup." Having logged time at each outfield position, as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base*, Mackowiak's versatility made him a fan favorite in Pittsburgh.
Drafted in the 53rd round of the draft in 1996, Rob Mackowiak is the quintessential example of the utility man.
* He has also played SS and pitched in minor league ball.

All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Finally they got him to sign
after drafting him in 30th round in the 1995 draft (he didn’t sign), the Reds finally got him under contract.

BTW
His most similar player (according to BBRef) for age 30 and 31 is former Red Joel Youngblood – the guy after whom my father named me.

Is your name something like "Youngblood Smith"?
because that would be incredibly awesome.
Also…this was the dude who was the Cubs Killer a few years ago, yeah? Walk-off hits in both games of a doubleheader the day his son was born, or something else equally absurd…
...Wikipedia says
He also had an extremely memorable double header against the Chicago Cubs on May 29, hitting a walk-off grand slam in the first game and a game-tying ninth inning home run in the second game, all on the same day that his son was born.

...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
Too bad he's LH hitter, sounds like he's got some pop.

"Was it for the Reds organization or all of baseball?" Bruce said.
This sounds like OF insurance for the trade deadline.
Anything to take at-bats away from Corey, I’m for it.
