it looked like a wild pitch but fasano grabbed it out of the air and gunned him down at 3rd

Almost a passed ball
Was thrown in the dirt, bounced straight up and landed in the catcher’s glove. Not a bad decision by Votto to run, esp. with one out.
He double clutched and still got him.

Not sure how to measure this
but we really seem to make more outs on the basepaths this year. Just looking at CS – we have 25 already with half of the season over (not counting today); last year we only had 31.
Wow
I didn’t know Fasano was back in the big leagues.

Anyone watching the Cleveland broadcast
should know that the story they told about Paul Byrd’s first career start being a complete game shut out against Randy Johnson and the Astros in 1998 isn’t true.
That was his first start for the Phillies. His first career start was for the Braves against the Florida Marlins a year earlier.

Frazier and Stubbs
so i was checking the scores of our minor league games tonight and these two guys had a pretty good game (again). and i got to thinking. Frazier is tearing up the FSL, hitting .310/.369/.500 in 158 ABs. Stubbs hasnt been as good, but still pretty respectable, hitting .256/.364/.381 in 273 ABs. his SLG is down, but i have to think a dude with his kind of power can fix that. he is stealing much better this year with 23 successes to only 7 failures. his OPS is .742 in a league where the average is .702, and of course his glove is great.
anyway, these guys need to be in AA real fast. Stubbs is 23 and Frazier is 22, both spent 3 seasons playing at the highest levels of college ball (the Big 12 and The Big East, respectively), and i have to think they should be on the fast track. Frazier’s movement im happy with, being sent to Sarasota pretty quickly after his hot start in Dayton. but Stubbs…come on. i dont know what the organization’s plan is for him, but personally i’d like to see him (and Frazier) starting in Cincinnati’s outfield sometime in ‘09. Frazier is playing mostly SS for Sarasota, but he wont stick there long. he isnt athletic enough to play SS, but i think he would make for an above average 3B or LF. and the more i follow Stubbs the more i like him. he takes a ton of walks and has speed to burn, though his K rate is a concern. sounds a bit to me like he could be a poor man’s Grady Sizemore. his glove would easily be the best on the team if he were in Bigs right now.
the whole reason i wrote about all this is with Frazier and Stubbs playing LF and CF and The Bossman in RF, our outfield would probably the best defensive outfield in the league. these guys arent ready for the Bigs yet, obviously, but getting them a step closer is the only way to find out. our upper minor leagues are kinda depleted since they all came to Cincy, and these guys (along with Valaika and Yonder) are really getting me excited for the next wave. i really hope to see these guys moved up in the next few weeks, but we’ll see what Jocko has planned for these guys.

Yeah Scrabbs but don't forget Dusty's manlove for CoRey...
These guys could be the greatest prospects since Willie Mays and dustbag would have Patterson in center, Hairstunned in LF and Jay in RF.
Silly me I still think that Reds might sign Adam Dunn
