2008 - Edinson Volquez 10-2 1.71 1.17 110 45

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Jesse Litsch 7-4 4.06 1.28 46 14

This season is turning scary for me, because now my main preoccupation is rooting for great individual seasons by some of my favorite players. I hold my breath every time Jay Bruce comes to the plate, I hope for big things from Joey Votto, and I especially wish for Edinson to continue what is thus far a historic season. I know he can't keep up his 261 ERA+, his 1.71 ERA or his 10.42 K/9 rate, but I watch all of his starts in suspense, just hoping he can keep keeping guys from crossing the plate.

If he can do that tonight, the Reds will leave town with back-to-back series wins over AL East teams, which would be very nice as we head to Cleveland. I'd also like to see Adam Dunn get some comeuppance in his feud with J.P. Ricciardi.

So go Reds.

[Note from Slyde: If you get a chance, check out the new features in Gameday.  You can new view the pitch trajectory in 3 dimensions.  Awesome!]

Phillips and Junyah

should be switched into any of those spots occupied by Votto, Kepp, and Bruce. I’m just pipe dreamin’ though.

I'm fine with Phillips where he is

you need to break up the lefties and he’s the best hitter on the team for that. I’d switch Junior and Votto.

and put david ross in for bako (unless the sucess of volquez is related with bako, then im ok see bako once every 5 days)

I am tired of talking to fans like you with your OBS and the like.

whats up team?

I feel like I haven’t been home for more to sleep in the past week, but I have caught most of the games, one of them unfortunately being the thumping on Tues. I was watching it with my 83 year old grandmother and she was using some pretty choice language. Also, she despises David Weathers but likes Jeff brantley. When I found out of her cowboy love, I had no choice, I had to bitchslap her. But shes ok, once her new hip comes in.

The Astros have released Shawn Chacon. He was angry at being demoted to the pen, and choked the GM and threw him on the floor.

Good gravy. I liked Chacon when he was with the Yankees. I heard rumors that he had a bit of an attitude problem, but I had no idea it was that bad.

we all knew this team wouldnt bash like the Reds of a few years ago.

but that being said, it shouldnt be this impotent. and really, it is all Dusty’s fault. the top 4 of this lineup has been woeful thus far. i wish i had the numbers (my belt is in the shop) but i can say with confidence that each slot 1, 2, 3, and 4 has been hitting below average for slot. and that is all Dusty’s fault. lineup construction isnt all that important in the long run, but 3-4 wins (just a guess) makes a world of difference.

Hell

I liked my Three Gorges Dam joke earlier in the thread, but apparently it wasn’t a winner with anyone else.

i didnt catch that one

but i did LOL (srsly) when you gushed about GnR. what a bunch of sucktards.

Guns n' Roses was the only good hairband

I will defend them forever. And as a Bengals fan, I have soft spot the size of Riverfront Stadium for “Welcome to the Jungle.”

That said, how weird is it that Tommy Stinson joined GnR? Totally weird, right?

by Brendanukkah on Jun 26, 2008 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

holy shit

you just blew my mind. i should have known about this. how did i not know about this? i dont even think “weird” is sufficiently weird enough to describe how i feel.

understandable

as an album it lulls for uncomfortable stretches. but the high notes are totally worth it.

Alex Rose is a faux rocker

Slash is as bad as is his name,
Dumb and Blows it – would be a better band name

Who else could write a song like "Knockin' on Heaven's Door?"

I do like how you’ve taken the shortstop conceit and blown it up by a power of 10. Kuods to you, sir. Kuods.

Don't forget Live and Let Die

Lennon and McCartney never wrote songs like that.

Are Kepp’s knees still bugging him? And why does anyone think that Valentin can hold down the spicy hot corner?

Holy fuck! I just realized that Volquez didn’t even strike anybody out! I just want to forget this game ever happened. I hope we never come back to Toronto again.

I really don't understand how Cubs fans do it

after winning nothing for 100 years they still pack the park. Yet after 18 years Reds fans don’t come out and are becoming apathetic

its strange. after all the shit that has happened in the last 8 years, everything that came before really does seem like it was a different world.

No

They caught him. Also, Munich might be a liiiiiiittle worse than Atlanta. Although maybe in like twenty years, they can have Eric Bana play Richard Jewell.

'36 was probably a bit tense

even if it lacked the violence in Atlanta or Munich.

Eric Rudolph had a pretty good run there. I did some backpacking in the Smokies in the late ‘90s and remember thinking that the guy was still on the lam somewhere in that vicinity, fighting bears and eating acorns.
