Game 80: Reds at Blue Jays

This season is turning scary for me, because now my main preoccupation is rooting for great individual seasons by some of my favorite players. I hold my breath every time Jay Bruce comes to the plate, I hope for big things from Joey Votto, and I especially wish for Edinson to continue what is thus far a historic season. I know he can't keep up his 261 ERA+, his 1.71 ERA or his 10.42 K/9 rate, but I watch all of his starts in suspense, just hoping he can keep keeping guys from crossing the plate.
If he can do that tonight, the Reds will leave town with back-to-back series wins over AL East teams, which would be very nice as we head to Cleveland. I'd also like to see Adam Dunn get some comeuppance in his feud with J.P. Ricciardi.
So go Reds.
[Note from Slyde: If you get a chance, check out the new features in Gameday. You can new view the pitch trajectory in 3 dimensions. Awesome!]

I hope Dunn gets some comeuppance
But Ricciardi might go out and get Coutlangus.

Phillips and Junyah
should be switched into any of those spots occupied by Votto, Kepp, and Bruce. I’m just pipe dreamin’ though.

I'm fine with Phillips where he is
you need to break up the lefties and he’s the best hitter on the team for that. I’d switch Junior and Votto.

except bat keppinger second (get him more ab’s)
and put david ross in for bako (unless the sucess of volquez is related with bako, then im ok see bako once every 5 days)

OBP does not matter.
I am tired of talking to fans like you with your OBS and the like.
We need to play some small ball and get some real veteran presence on this team.

whats up team?
I feel like I haven’t been home for more to sleep in the past week, but I have caught most of the games, one of them unfortunately being the thumping on Tues. I was watching it with my 83 year old grandmother and she was using some pretty choice language. Also, she despises David Weathers but likes Jeff brantley. When I found out of her cowboy love, I had no choice, I had to bitchslap her. But shes ok, once her new hip comes in.

Holy crap
The Astros have released Shawn Chacon. He was angry at being demoted to the pen, and choked the GM and threw him on the floor.
Good gravy. I liked Chacon when he was with the Yankees. I heard rumors that he had a bit of an attitude problem, but I had no idea it was that bad.

we all knew this team wouldnt bash like the Reds of a few years ago.
but that being said, it shouldnt be this impotent. and really, it is all Dusty’s fault. the top 4 of this lineup has been woeful thus far. i wish i had the numbers (my belt is in the shop) but i can say with confidence that each slot 1, 2, 3, and 4 has been hitting below average for slot. and that is all Dusty’s fault. lineup construction isnt all that important in the long run, but 3-4 wins (just a guess) makes a world of difference.
Stephen A. Douglas was a great debater, but Abraham Lincoln was the Great Emancipator.

Our 7 hole is killin' it!
I wanted to point out the “aggressive” philosophy as a source of Dustyblame, but weren’t you saying a lot of our hitters are actually seeing more pitches this year? Either way, aggressive sucks.

i just rediscovered that album a few weeks ago
i was a huge music hound in college but since i became a grown up i havent been able to afford it. so ive just been recycling through all the stuff that was big 3-4 years ago. its alot of fun revisiting 2004. remember when gasoline was 2 dollars a gallon and you voted for John Kerry?

Guns n' Roses was the only good hairband
I will defend them forever. And as a Bengals fan, I have soft spot the size of Riverfront Stadium for “Welcome to the Jungle.”
That said, how weird is it that Tommy Stinson joined GnR? Totally weird, right?

'36 was probably a bit tense
even if it lacked the violence in Atlanta or Munich.
Eric Rudolph had a pretty good run there. I did some backpacking in the Smokies in the late ‘90s and remember thinking that the guy was still on the lam somewhere in that vicinity, fighting bears and eating acorns.
