I don't care what the score is
I want Burton, then Coco. No chances. If they beat us, they beat us going against our best.

Burton's in now
If he holds them, and we score another run or more, I’m okay with Majewski pitching the ninth.

There's a small chance I'm going tomorrow
So I wanted a chance to see Burton rested here with a 6-run lead.
I was planning to go to this game today
But it sold out. I’m kinda pissed about that now.

If I go tomorrow I want to try to find the Reds’ Statue of Liberty. Not sure where it is though – anyone here seen it?
im checking out the cubs game.

IIRC
He wasn’t traded. He was a minor league free agent, and just went on his way at the end of the season.

I'd go with EdE
Janish’s ball was one step to his left. It was hit really hard, but he had time to pound his fist into his glove before diving. EdE just went straight up.
yeah but wasnt janish's play in a tough situation?

the loophole had to do with his birthdate, and when he could be signed
someone did their homework and realized he could be signed earlier than other teams thought. He was sought after by several teams, and the REDS signed him with a $2 million bonus.

Thompson will struggle a good deal but should payoff next year
He got lucky today. Being new and not well known, he got away with alot against a Yankee offense that should have hit him with.
He will have several starts much like Cueto where he will simply is not very good and they will be successive starts as well. But the learning experience will payoff next year.

Just my observation at this time
He will struggle and isn’t ready to be a consistant “good” mlb pitcher. But he has made a big leap since last year. He will be 23.5 by next season. It may not take long.

Man, Bailey mechanics have fallen way off
I got his last full 2006 start on realplayer and his start tonight on Milb tv. Mercy, what a mess.
He is off balance and not driving with his legs which is shortening his extension. Amazing stuff. I wonder how it came to this? The 2006 start, the announcer is mentioning his consistant mid-90’s fastball. Starting out about at 93-95 early on, got to 94-97 consistantly by nights end. The AAA start tonight is 91-92. Couple of 93-94’s.
The only similiarity is he doesn’t throw his breaking pitch for strikes, but the 06 one looks nastier. I attribute this to why his velocity is down, being off balanced.
I don’t know why losing the overhand windup would cause him to lose balance so much. It clearly is effecting his performance and making him throw with less velocity and a causing his breaking pitch to roll more. It is like he used the windup as a balancing crutch.
Reds and Bailey have quite the mess they need to solve. Homer used to be super confident. I can see why he no longer is. Alot of difference throwing 91 than 95 eh Homer?
I think you should be the Reds' pitching coach.
Hey Dusty...Are you sure you're OK? You might need an MRI.

it looks like Harang is gonna get a few extras days rest
after Cueto goes tomorrow, the Reds are off on monday. Arroyo goes tuesday with Voltron going on his normal rest on wednesday (this comes from the team page. i’ll link it below). this could not have come at a better time. hopefully he can get back on track. i havent given up on the season just yet, and we need the Harang we all know and love if we’re gonna make a push.

i bet he'll DH
he was doing that a good bit down in AAA and it will give him time to get the knee back in shape while still contributing. your lineup, according to me (and remember, im not prognosticator):
Bruce
Kepp
Griff
BP
Dunn
Votto
Eazy muthafuckin E
Hopper/Out
Bako/Ross
that should score some runs for us. im actually kinda cool with that, and it looks like something Dusty would do.

i have a feeling that Andy Phillips is staying
“emergency SS” sounds kind of important to Dusty. just a hunch.

I assume...
...Kepp will be the emergency SS. Unless he’s the starter and Janish is the emergency SS.
The Reds are kind of in a bind. Freel, Cabrera and Hairston are all infielder/outfielders…and are all injured. And they’re carrying three catchers. With Griffey possibly not up to playing right field, the roster math is pretty tough.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
But...
...Patterson hit a home run today!
And with Griffey DHing, they’ll have no spare outfielder without Patterson.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Actually, he did
He has enough service time that they can’t send him down unless he agrees to it.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
That's different than volunteering
That’s accepting what you are told to do. Dusty implied that it was Patterson’s idea. Patterson denies such a statement.
I want a hamburger. No, a cheeseburger. I want a hot dog. I want a milkshake. I want potato chips...
Yeah, I know
But we really can’t send him down again unless he agrees. He could refuse, and sign with another team, or just sit in front of his TV scarfing down Doritos and collecting his money.
I assumed that’s what Caleb meant.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?

Lost in Brooklyn
Gotta watch out for those out of towners
Actually, Thompson had bigger trouble earlier, hours before the game. He and two other rookies, Jay Bruce and Paul Janish, left their Midtown hotel and decided to take the subway to Yankee Stadium. But they got on the wrong train and ended up in Brooklyn instead of the Bronx."I had a big old bag and I was going to ride the bus," Thompson said, "but they said I could ride with them. They said, ‘We’re rookies, let’s take the subway and get there ahead of the bus.’ "
After about 30 minutes, they realized they were going the wrong way.
"Janish was in charge at first," Thompson said. "Bruce ended up asking a lady, and she told him which way we needed to go. He got us back on the right track."
But the train was crowded, and Thompson had to stand for most of the way. That made him tired. "The last 5 or 10 minutes, I was able to sit down," Thompson said.
They arrived at the stadium shortly before 11 a.m. for a game that began at 1:08 p.m. "The guys in the clubhouse gave me stuff for trying to follow those guys because they didn’t know what they were doing," Thompson said. "Bad impression."
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
top plays
i missed web gems, but edwin made no. 4 on sportscenter’s top plays. Janish didn’t make the top 10. Yes, I think such things are VERY IMPORTANT.
