whats the record for the lowest number of pitches in a CG?
slyde?
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
few years back,
I remember either Glavine or Maddox throwing one on 76 pitches
Reds fan for 40 years!
Pitch count stats are a bit wonky historically
but since 2000, Aaron Cook threw 74 pitches last year in a 9 inning CG. Carlos Silva did the same in 2005.

something about how it's the coolest song ever written
also, i think it got really big that time italy* won the world cup and their fans chanted it, and it was fitting because they had to beat 7 teams to win it. at least that’s how i remember it.
*country might or might not be correct.
What do you mean, "blank slate"?
Hmm, that makes some sense
Italy did win, but they didn’t beat one country. The USA!

swing swing swing swing swing swing swing
From Dusty the other day:
Paul Bako, Adam Dunn, Edwin Encarnacion, Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto are all on pace to strikeout 108 times or more. "No. 1, we’ve got to have better pitch selection," Dusty Baker said. "No. 2, we’re striking out too much. When you don’t put the ball in play, you’ve got no chance to get a hit. We’ve got quite a few guys to strike out 100 times. . . You’ve got to put the ball in play."
Taking a walk every once in a while wouldn’t hurt, motherfucker.
wouldn't that clog the bases though ??

i think dusty is unaware
that one can strike out swinging
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
He's not aware of a lot of thing.
He also said this:
"It’s disheartening to score one run," Baker said. "It’s hard to win with one, unless you get a shutout."
and
"We’re making everyone look like Cy Young," Baker said. "Everybody’s not."
Yeah.
i've got news for dusty
playing “small ball” isn’t the way to net you a lot of runs
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
indeed
if everyone was Cy Young then everyone would be dead.
"Hard being everybody’s hero, I suppose." - Buck O'Neil on Willie Mays
That's what I don't understand
He’s talked about being “agressive” ever since he was hired and all during spring training, yet the Cincy Media blames the players, not the manager, for the offensive problems.

yeah, its all the media's fault !!!

It's a good thing that Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink doesn't play for the Yankees
He should always have that last name on the back of his jersey.
We'd have to score like five runs to make that happen
So I hope you’re right.

They showed this...
...on the local news last night.
It’s an ambidextrous pitcher vs. a switch-hitter. They spent several minutes switching sides. Every time the hitter went to the other side of the plate, the pitcher would switch arms. And the hitter would move to the other side of the plate.

I think it resets once a new pitcher comes in

The AL screws me up
I was looking at the Yanks’ outfield. Damon in left, Cabrera is in center, so Matsui’s in right, right? Nope. Abreu. Wait, I though Matsui was playing. Did he get switched out? Hurt? No. He’s the DH. God that’s weird.
Matsui is the regular DH this year
He only plays LF when they’re resting Cabrera or Damon.
