Game 75: Reds at Yankees
Cincinnati Reds at New York Yankees, Jun 20, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
|
|
|
Edinson still leads the majors in strikeouts (8 more than Sabathia) and ERA (ahead of No. 2 Tim Lincecum's 2.21). Mussina, however, leads the AL in wins and has 1/4 the walks of Volquez.
And in the past 5 games (all losses), we've been outscored 31-10 and managed a robust .214/.294/.298/.592 line (down from .247/.326/.403/.729 on the season.) Of course, now we're at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 1976 (when we swept) and the last time evah, so maybe we'll get some of that Big Red Luck. Maybe.

I hope Griffey is playing tonight
His IMDB profile (Summer Catch, Little Big League, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Simpsons) definitely trumps Mussina’s (Wordplay).
He is, in fact.
Via the Fay’s iPhone, seemingly:
Bruce RF
Cabrera SS
Griffey DH
Phillips 2B
Dunn LF
Votto iB
Encarnacion 3B
Patterson CF
Bako C
Volquez P

Oh yeah...
Patterson playing over Hopper is kind of stupid, even if he is batting 8th.

But wow
Batting him 8th.
I didn’t think Dusty had it in him.
Someone check the clubhouse for pods.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Actually, Dusty has this one right...
Patterson actually hits better off right-handers (.201) than Hopper (.200).
Whoah. The Yanks are sure in trouble tonight. That 0.001 is really going to make a difference.
Hey Dusty...Are you sure you're OK? You might need an MRI.

Suck it, Jeets.
Not a great throw, but nice catch and tag by Jolbert.

He got rid of it fast, though
Honestly, I was surprised the throw was that far ahead of Jeter.

It was nice to be in the park.
I’ve sold beer there the last 7 summers so it is strange not to go there frequently.
The game was dissapointing but it was nice to see Cueto in person.

I hate...
...Giambi’s pornstache.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Too bad...
that Welsh doesn’t feel the need to harp about Giambi’s “deficiency” like he would have had Dunn just taken strike three with a runner in scoring position.
2 pitches for CoPatt
Even Jim Day said on Reds Live “Corey Patterson over Norris Hopper? That’s just me thinking out loud…..”

And Abreu and Molina aren’t favorite players of mine, so I’m not too upset they kinda screwed up.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
Nah
I just hate the way Abreu plays RF. He’s so scared of the wall it’s a joke. He won’t dive for balls. He’s not scrappy and he doesn’t play the game right. Just not my type. ;-)
