Good point.

Aaron Harang will struggle against the Dodgers. He is not a good major league pitcher. I don’t know what a quality start is.

Eh, Jeff Kent typically has our number

Him, Berkman, the other guy, whatshisface. They’ve all got it.

I applaud your new twist on the name Cantu

But he’s more of a Bill Hall All-Star. The other guys (Berkman, Kent, et al) are legitimately good players who just kick the ass of the Reds especially hard.

Even Jay Bruce

can only evade the dark, sinister, strikeout forces that permeate the Reds for so long.

Eventually all succumb to its powers.

Its interesting to hear Rosencrantz and Marty talk about the Dunn fiasco with the Jays

GM. Marty’s reaction…”seems a bit strong” to say he does not like baseball.

by CrimsonKing on Jun 19, 2008 1:00 PM EDT   0 recs

Seemed like a perfect MartyBait as well

I’m surprised he didn’t say that he agreed with JP.

Gameday says Harang's fastball are topping out in the high '80s

Given the source, this may be crap but does anybody have a sense if this is accurate or typically of recent starts? It’s a bit alarming and might have something to do with his recent struggles. As well as his inability to throw a fastball by the opposing pitcher for strike three.

by bengalred on Jun 19, 2008 1:04 PM EDT   0 recs

"Flies into Double Play"?

Did Dunn just make a good defensive play?

by Brendanukkah on Jun 19, 2008 1:05 PM EDT   0 recs

I'd believe bad baserunning

Still, kudos to Dunner for making them pay for it.

by Brendanukkah on Jun 19, 2008 1:07 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Seemingly.

I can’t wait to rub this in the face of the people on the facebook Reds app who say that Dunn has a worse arm than Griffey.

well here it comes from Marty

If a Toronto scout saw Adam Dunn play lackadaisical it would not be hard for the G.M. to make that conclusion.

It was a squibber down the 3rd baseline that Martin could not pick up.

Cowboy said it was the hardest he had ever seen Dunn run.

by CrimsonKing on Jun 19, 2008 1:10 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It's true

Stoltz has a shutout. He has not allowed the Reds to score. They have zero runs. He’s pitching a shutout.

I don't know whether to be impressed or repulsed

By the conflation of “football” and “futbol.” I just call it soccer.

I was going off of 'than.

I call MLS soccer. Other than that, I throw in a football sometimes. I’ve actually caught myself referring to the NFL as “American football”.

Soccer scorelines sometimes throw me off

Because they list the home team first instead of the visitors.

Wolverhampton 0:2 Milwall, but it was played in the West Midlands, not southeast London. See? It gets confusing.

by Brendanukkah on Jun 19, 2008 1:28 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Boots, pitch, "onion bag" ...

it’s all terribly confusing

by bengalred on Jun 19, 2008 1:30 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Fortunately (or maybe not) for the Reds

finishing last doesn’t relegate you to a lower division

by bengalred on Jun 19, 2008 1:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes, the National League West keeps us out of the relegation zone

We’re lucky to avoid the drop, but we won’t be qualifying for any tournaments.
