Farmers only wonder who is Jay
Question: What current or former Red does Jay Bruce remind you of the most? He's often compared to Dunn because they're both homegrown outfielders, but he doesn't walk, doesn't hit for quite as much power, is way faster and is a much better contact hitter. Reminds me of a 21-year-old Ken Griffey Jr. with slightly less on-base prowess.
Triple-A: Jay Bruce was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBIs and Adam Rosales had 3 hits as the Bats rolled past the Tides 7-2. Tom Shearn (5-1) struck out 5 in 6 innings, and Danny Herrera threw in 2 more perfect innings. UP NEXT: Game 3 at Norfolk, 7:15 tonight.
Double-A: Ramon Ramirez was hot in Chattanooga's 5-2 win over Tennessee. He struck out 8 and allowed just one hit and 2 runs in 6 innings. Carlos Fisher and Josh Roenicke cleaned up with 6 strikeouts in the final 3 innings, and B.J. Szymanski added his 6th home run. UP NEXT: Game 3 vs. Tennessee, 11:15 today.
High A: Sarasota won 9-2 thanks to a 6-run ninth. Juan Francisco was 2 for 5, Drew Stubbs drew 3 walks and Chris Valaika was 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts. Yet another perfect inning for Ramon Geronimo. UP NEXT: New series vs. Daytona, 7 tonight.
Low A: Every Dragon had a hit in Dayton's 11-1 rout of Quad Cities. Todd Frazier: 3 for 5. Brandon Waring: 1 for 4. Zach Cozart: 2 for 5 with a double and a homer. Enerio Del Rosario, a 22-year-old from (where else) the Dominican Republic, struck out 6 in 6 innings, allowing 3 hits and a walk. He's allowed 14 hits and 5 walks in 26 innings this season, striking out 20 with a 1.38 ERA. UP NEXT: Game 3 vs. Quad Cities, 7 tonight.

2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He’s pushed his average up over .300 for the first time this season.

Shern is 5 - 1
Bring him up! Just kidding.. With his 4.34 ERA and his WHIP approaching 1.5.. He looks like he has been the recipient of some team hitting.. Can we replace the the offense with Louisville?

Also, some good news.
Check out this article from the DDN:
After the game, the Reds promoted Frazier to high Class A Sarasota after last year’s Dragons shortstop, Chris Valaika (hitting .377), was promoted from Sarasota to Class AA Chattanooga.
Yay! Frazier and Valaika are moving up! But who’s taking their place in Dayton?
Joining the Dragons today will be catcher Devin Mesoraco, the Reds’ No. 1 pick in last summer’s draft, and first baseman Logan Parker, who was rehabbing an injury. Parker was here last season. Both additions have played only in extended spring games so far.
Awesome. I can’t wait to see how Mesoraco does in Dayton.

I'm excited by these (well-deserved) promotions
Is this a sign that Jocketty might move the talent through the pipeline a little faster? I’m not really too critical of Wayne’s handling of the minors. I think that keeping Bailey and Bruce down are defensible moves (and Bruce did move from A to AAA in one year). Still, it seemed like some of our more fringe prospects were kept at levels a little too long. Repeating AA and so forth. Does this portend a shift in company philosophy?

Stubbs
is 23. He’s OPSing ~.850. It’s time to see if he can handle Double A. The Reds need to figure out if they’ve got something.

Also
Szymanksi, 24, OPS .850 at AA. They need to see him soon in Triple A. He’s almost already to old to be a prospect at Double A.

Wow
I’m a genius. BJ and I have the same birth year. I looked at it and saw it was later in the year than mine. I forgot I’m about ready to turn 26 myself.
