He stole 2B and 3B yesterday
Maybe the success went to his head.

I think he's trying to over compensate for the lack of offense
...or it could all be on Dusty.
Like I said, they’re trying too hard to make something happen…
But I thought the team looked flat?
I’m confused. Are they trying too hard or trying too little?
It gets crazy on the road, and awful lonely. That's why I love pornography. This next song is all about my love of hardcore, barely legal pornography.

I am not sure.
It doesn’t help to try too hard if you suck at what you are trying
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
I'm more in the first camp
They’re trying so hard to generate something that they’re letting the game play them.
Just look at the 2 CS in just 2 innings.
wow farney
I think every one , including all 4300 little leaguers in attendance, knew he was going to steal
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
was that a botched hit and run?
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
why must we try and steal
clearly that hasnt worked

He made a another diving attempt...
at a low liner.
I think it got him in the forearm.
It looks like he’s sticking around though.
Yeah
but this is Freel we’re talking about here.
I have trouble remembering plays he didn’t lay out for…
But...
...that wouldn’t be scrappy!
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
the one last night in the corner
he definitely could have had standing up.

freel is hurt
what do you know?

I'd like to pile on Freel but
it was kind of tough ball.
I’m not sure why he was playing so deep for Gregor Blanco
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.
Gregor is a weird name.

BA has nuthin today. And there is no way we are going to get back in the way the Reds have been hitting lately. Better shut them down now to have any sort of chance.

This is interesting (now that the game is out of reach)
The Braves booth is sort of having a passive aggressive, good natured argument.
Ron Gant talking about how the Braves dynasty was built on sacrifice hitting and stolen bases, PBP guy pointing out that they out-homered and out-slugged everyone.
It’s been going on 3 innings.
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.

is he getting crotchety now?
that is sad, I always enjoyed him.

He didn't use to be?
He always been crotchety – playfully, not Marty crotchety – but crotchety
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.
It takes both
Both schools tend to cling to their ideal as the crux.
You need to be able to generate runs when the HRs don’t come but you can’t depend on small ball to win you most games.
Our offense does neither well.
It's actually not a war of schools
it started with Gant saying that the Braves were built on speed and small ball. PBP guy was just pointing out that hey actually knocked the piss out of the ball. He was just appealing to empiricism while Gant was talking out of his ass.
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.
I gathered they weren't battling
Just mentioning that it really shouldn’t be an “either or”. No matter which school one may aspire to.
I understand
it was just interesting to hear someone challenge a player (who was on that team) that rather than “not winning with the home run” that they, in fact, hit a lot of home runs.
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.
Actually...
He’s been struggling of late.
Despite our struggles, it may not be a good idea to bring him up… yet. (even though his struggles look better than some our players hot streaks)
not to put a damper on you caleb
but i am guessing after last night Fogg will be pitching for a while.

probably true
unless this inning extends and his spot comes up with only 1 out
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
even so
i would still leave him in, I think most of the ‘pen was emptied out last night, I would like to see Fogg get the Reds through the 5th.

yep, he's making it hard for us

Reds claw back in in by being patient . . .
And Dunn hacks at the first pitch (out of the strike zone) with the bases juiced.
Well
he is hitting .389 on the first pitch in his career. But I’d rather see him work the count
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
especially with the pitch he swung at

NL switch hitter home runs
1 Chipper Jones 394
2 Lance Berkman 268
3 Bobby Bonilla 247
4 Ken Caminiti 230
5 Howard Johnson 209
6 Todd Hundley
7 Ted Simmons 182

I blame Dunn
I don’t want to watch him anymore. I’d rather watch Jason Ellison. I’m sure he could hit .200 and walk a few times. Amd play better defense. I don’t want to watch him anymore.
a few times is kind of a straw man, no?
He leads the team in OBP.

I’m at the front of the line when it comes to my frustration with Dunn this year, but you’re just making wild claims.
By all means vent, but I really hope you don’t actually believe what you say.
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.
wild claims
I’m not claiming anything. I don’t want to watch him anymore. We’ve been losing with this guy for seven years now. Unfortunatly we need to blow this team up and start over, keeping a small nucleous. Dunn should not be part of what we build on. .
You claimed that you'd rather watch Jason Ellison play
And that you play better left field defense. I’d call those claims pretty wild.

No I claimed Jason Ellison plays better defense.
So does pretty much everyone else wearing a major league uniform.
No, you didn't.
I don’t want to watch him anymore. I’d rather watch Jason Ellison. I’m sure he could hit .200 and walk a few times. Amd play better defense. I don’t want to watch him anymore.
You even distinctly mentioned that you’d like Ellison to hit .200 and walk a few times. You’d honestly rather have him in the lineup than Dunn?

because most re-builds start with trading away your best hitter?
who’s only 28 years old?
by Nick Papageorgio on May 4, 2008 3:50 PM EDT up reply actions
Okay, fine
but while he may be the face of the Reds losing, he’s not anywhere near the main culprit.
If he goes, the Reds will have a hard time replacing his run production. Jason Ellison might be easier for you to watch, but only the thing the Reds gain by that substitution is the pleasure of “Mutaman.”
'cause something is happening here, but you don't know what it is.
