A bit too early.
No man on first, so no GIBP.

So I was not. Ha.

splitting time
listening to the game and reading The Catcher Was a Spy. Definetly a great way to spend an afternoon. Except for Fogg.

awesome
Griffey laughed when Dunn said “one more then we’ll work on 700”

Aw Krap.

we need a better meterologist
First Fogg then Weathers, that is unfair to have both for Reds fans

What is this aversion to letting RPs go more than one inning?
by RijoSaboCaseyWKRP on May 31, 2008 6:24 PM EDT reply actions
Mostly they just start to suck
after prolonged usage. Which sometimes is just loosening in the pen.
by Brendanukkah on May 31, 2008 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
I would just settle for Dusty
having an aversion for using weathers in any game w/o a touchdown lead.
unfortunately
I think he is past ‘done’ this year.
if those are the choices
Bako if runner on 2nd or better.
Take off, hey!
Dont be a hoser, let the high pitch go.
well Lincoln should be loose
seeing how he was throwing in the second inning today
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Clement Vallandigham
does not like this bullpen move.
by Brendanukkah on May 31, 2008 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions
what actually is your learned opinion
of Mr Vallandigham? Other than he died in a really weird manner
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
He was a self-serving jerk that trumpeted causes he didn't believe in for political gain
I focused on his arrest during the Civil War for giving an anti-Lincoln speech, and his subsequent deportment to Canada without benefit of trial or habeas corpus. He wasn’t a victim, per se, because he was courting that sort of action, but it was an interesting look at an actual case of a political arrest while habeas corpus was suspended. I wrote this in 2002-3, so the parallels to the political climate at the time seemed relevant.
by Brendanukkah on May 31, 2008 6:48 PM EDT up reply actions
He was banished to the South
And I think you’re right, he “escaped” to Canada. But he wasn’t allowed back into Ohio, where he was running for governor. He had a pretty loyal following and was one of the best orators of the day. He might have been able to win the governorship (although the improving Union fortunes in the war probably hurt as much as anything). He played up his political martyrdom, but not being allowed in the state where you’re running for office is a predictable hindrance.

This is an erudite sportsblog
I would feel safe in saying that no other baseball blog has ever mentioned Vallandigham
hey now, I linked to CV's wiki in the last game thread
he still has my favorite death ever. Shooting himself while showing to his defense team how the victim could have possibly killed himself.

Due credit
That’s why I brought him up here, because I saw your mention. Didn’t he die at the Golden Lamb?
by Brendanukkah on May 31, 2008 6:58 PM EDT up reply actions
and that was awesome
what away to go. This is my Civil War favorite though
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
hehehe
Uncle John’s passing always makes me smile.
Re: Brendan: I don’t know nearly as much about Clement (or Lebanon, Ohio) as you. So yeah, sure, Golden Fleece.

Griffey will hit 600 here.
of course i also predicted a y2k meltdown.

he is pretty hard to take
He makes a pretty good case for great pitchers making a good pitching coach
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
The Boss
would dance with Courtney Cox, but he really is waaaay outta her league.

Sets the table for Griffey
What a well-mannered young man!

Hard to believe
That the big knock on him was his plate discipline. So far, not a problem at all.
by Brendanukkah on May 31, 2008 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah what is that?
5 BBs and 1 K?

i think it was the night he sulked in the club house
about the media only talking to him when he was hitting well. late april maybe?

Yikes
Weathers really isn’t very good this year, is he?
Signing CoCo is looking pretty smart now.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
If only the Reds could convince
Tim the rock Raines to come out of retirement. Raines, fogg, and weathers would be a great trio.
How could I forget Snow!
I cheated on this one, Ken Cloude from the Mariners.
do we have a competant Veep in the 'pen
in case this 9th gets messy?

So what did you think, Mrs. Lincoln?
“Play was good. A little boring. Now off to hold a seance in the White House.”

Not sorry that
"When I got my award, I just wore my usual stuff," Dunn said.
"Was it for the Reds organization or all of baseball?" Bruce said.
this isn't a lineup...
this is a UN Convention.
meanwhile, Soriano’s start looks promising for los Rojos.

I 'm not sorry that I missed today's 'Flogg alert'
Flogg needs to go
Stormy’s days are drawing to a close too.
"When I got my award, I just wore my usual stuff," Dunn said.
"Was it for the Reds organization or all of baseball?" Bruce said.
hmm, its the end of a close game
so lets take out our best hitter!
Thanks, Dusty!

Votto can end this..in a good way
"When I got my award, I just wore my usual stuff," Dunn said.
"Was it for the Reds organization or all of baseball?" Bruce said.
Still
winning run on first. Think lucky bitches!

I'll give 3-1 odds that Farney tries to steal home

All right now David Lee ...compact swing and at least a SAC fly

Soriano reminds me of Duaner
worth mentioning.

Fuck Bobby 'Mr Big shithead wife beater asshole" Cox

wow Madville
tell us how you really feel about him.

well, that sounded fairly exciting
I’m sure glad that freel was in there instead of Dunn. I hereby rescind my catty comments
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
I'd love for him to go Jard.
but I’d settle for him janking one into left.

Mercker? Burton?
I’d honestly be wholly supportive of keeping Janish in to pitch. He strikes me as the sort of guy who wouldn’t be half bad.
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
far better than the Braves
who have lost like, 15 straight 1-run games on the raod.
...because there's already someone posing as Jacob Brumfield
Dunn's out
Which sucks, but was probably the right move at the time. I don’t know if he scores when Freel does.
by Brendanukkah on May 31, 2008 7:26 PM EDT up reply actions
Unless it was a Belle-Vina scenario
that woulda been awesome

He was arguing that Freel was out at the plate.
I think.
