Game 55 Thread: Reds vs. Braves

I heard three Van Morrison songs while out driving today. That has to be a good sign. I mean, it's a marvelous night for a ballgame with the stars up above in your eyes. And BP will be flashing some glove, glove, glove, glove, crazy glove. The best part of all is that Volquez is on the mound. Uh, sha la la la la la la la la la-ti-da!
I won't be around tonight as I'm watching the Lost finale with some friends - even if Man Mountain has already ruined the big reveal for me. Bitch.

swap votto and Griffey and it would be just right :)

Glavine vs. Voltron
Should be good!
And I like this lineup, all things considered.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
But...
There are more than two lefties in a row! Glavine is a tough lefty. What gives?

You’ll still enjoy it and be scratching your head in some places.
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
I think they are going to pound Glavine tonight
not sure why, but I am looking for good things to happen
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
Nikki and Paolo (sp?)
Just kidding. I don’t know if I could pick one because it’s the interactions that I like. But I love what they are doing with Ben’s character and I’m a big fan of the Desmond episodes. My least favorite episodes are almost always Jack-centric.
"Hard being everybody’s hero, I suppose." - Buck O'Neil on Willie Mays
I tend to like Ben and Sawyer
i was bored by a lot of Sun and Jin’s storyline, but that’s only because I’m a racist.

I don’t like that they’ve turned his character into a self absorbed naive bafoon, but I still enjoy they way he delivers his story.
Van Morrison... How about Jim?
haha, we had our AP English finals today in the form of themed presentations… One involved disabled thinking leading to creativity… Not about Van Morrison, but here’s a quote about another famous Morrison singer:
“For our representative of music, we’re using Jim Morrison… He wasn’t autistic or anything, but he did trip a lot of acid which had the same effect.”

ross not starting against a lefty?
why?

"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
Batter vs. pitcher maybe
Bako is 1 for 2 with a homerun against Glavine.
Ross is 2 for 4 with a triple.
Obviously, a home run is better!

what was i thinking....
i am ashamed
"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
Actually...
...it might be they just want Bako to catch Volquez. They seem to have a good rapport, at least from what the beat writers say.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
but a triple is the most exciting play in baseball!

well considering BP is a 30/30 player
after a horrible past before the reds, i say past stats dont mean anything
"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
bp also didnt have
crack ribs he didnt know about…
"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
*cracked
"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
that only means anything
if he sustains this level of performance
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
true....
and thats what my question was implying
"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
well, what i'm saying is
that i’m not buying the cracked rib thing until he shows he can sustain these numbers… but i do like him so far (just not more than keppy or EdE)
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
I think Hairston will be a very good utility guy
He can play all positions except pitcher and catcher, he’s right-handed, he doesn’t jump off third floor balconies if the building’s not on fire…what’s not to like?
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
so you dont think
he will be given a starting spot?
"God has blessed me and I will continue to do my best for him. This is more important than anything I could do in baseball." -Albert Pujols
and i agree
he can be a valuable guy off the bench… i just don’t think he is better than kepp or EdE over the long run (now whether kepp should play ss or 2b is another question, but IMHO i think our best infield is made up of votto, kepp, BP and EdE)
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
au contraire
he starts his rehab assignment next week, i think
"I never should have given up the animation rights."
really? good
but I’ll be surprised if he gets back before the end of June
Hope Springs Eternal! Go Reds
When he's hitting as he is now...
There’s nothing to dislike.
However, let’s keep this in perspective. How many 31-year old position players who are not on “male enhancement” have you seen improve on a lifetime of .254/.325/.360 (over the course of 2606 AB in 11 seasons)?

I think Hairston is a special case
He was really rushed. Made it to the big leagues after only one year in the minors. He struggled a bit, as you might expect, but then did pretty well…until he had that broken rib.
IOW…I think his 2003 and 2004 numbers are probably more representative of his abilities than his career numbers.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
