I can't believe you all missed this
In the current Jay Bruce love-fest, another move was made today that I'd have thought you guys would be cheering about.
Baseball America reported 3 1/2 hours ago that board favorite Daryl Thompson has been promoted to AAA. This would appear to be welcome news, as most of the players the Reds have promoted seem to excell at the new level (hear that, Mr. Bruce?).
More importantly, this makes The Trade a winner now, right? Right? Nah, I suppose not.

Always nice to see our prospects get promoted
Let’s Daryl can kick some ass for the Bats. (And perhaps this means that a Louisville starter will be called up?)
He takes Lehr's place,
I figure.

yeah i read this yesterday over at Doug's crib.
i still think he is a step below Cueto and Bailey, but only a step. i still have to pinch myself sometimes over the number and quality of young pitchers this organization has.

I thought this blog was the one who “won’t kidnap and kill you”?

Hopefully this bullcrap trade will be forgotten if Thompson pitches well.

Minor League Promotions
Has Jockettey been promoting the kids faster than Krivsky had been?
Seems like it
but I don’t think Krivsky ever ignored a player who was performing well, so it’d be hard to prove that they are doing anything differently. I think we’ve just seen a bunch of players start off hot and get moved up because of it. It may also have to do with the fact that the Reds have a logjam at the lower levels. Jocketty may be trying to free up some playing time for last year’s draft picks by moving older guys up a level.

hot starts
It seems like Krivsky was a little more conservative and make people sit on their hot starts for a month, prove their start wasn’t small sample, then move up. I know some of that is timing…the draft isn’t until June – the next influx of young players and another part is lack of talent/bodies…Krivsky either cut or traded a lot of suspects drafted by previous GM’s.
this was expected when lehr left
and jordan smith, travis wood, and that tabor guy moved up to chattanooga from sarasota.
other moves that i’ve just seen are the promotion of valiquette (frenchy) P, del rosario P, jake long C, and IF jake kahaulelio from dayton to sarasota.
lots of good stuff going on right now.
i was surprised montano wasn't promoted to sarasota from dayton
he’s taken two no hitters into the seventh inning this year and has been pretty darn good.
How's he going to drive his apartment to Korea?

They had an agreement with the Reds
If they weren’t up by a certain time, they could go overseas. The Fayman says they’ll make more money there and have the same odds of playing for an MLB team, so it’s not really a loss for the Reds unless they’re prematurely promoting players.
no, i guess i get it
i dont care, in the sense that lehr and shearn weren’t prospects. I guess it seemed strange at first that they went to the same team, of all the professional baseball teams in the world, but then again I guess it would make it easier for them to go together.
What do you mean, "blank slate"?
They went to different teams
though I’m sure they all look the same to you. ; )

Samsung, Shearn’s new team, recently cut former Red Jacob Cruz. I kinda wish we could hold on to Shearn as insurance. You can do worse for your sixth starter.

(sic) is incorrect
From a quick google check, it looks like eastwindup correctly listed the signing teams for Lehr and Shearn.
i wanna go on his blog and tell him it's wrong
but you have to register to comment and it’s this whole big process that I dont want to go through
What do you mean, "blank slate"?

He must have his spell checker set to "destroy" mispelled words.
Maybe he figures, “If I can’t spell it, don’t use it!”
Tom Shearn's abilities are limited, but he did always seem to keep the team in game.
I agree w/you ken… you could do worse. Say…Josh Fogg?
