Reds win 4-3: If it weren't for the sixth inning, this game would have been almost perfect
Still, we've won four in a row and face a couple really exciting pitching matchups the next two days: Harang vs. Fausto, and Voltron vs. Cliff Lee in a battle of the AL and NL ERA leaders. It really should be a fun weekend.

that was a scary inning
When johnny C loses it it goes very, very quickly

Well...
...Boobs predicted something big for Cueto tonight. I’d say giving up three home runs in one inning is indeed big.

i felt horrible after i bragged about that and then that happened
in the newsroom I said “Johnny Cueto has a no-hitter through five, just wanted to point that out.” What a dick
What do you mean, "blank slate"?
so you're the guy
what a dick, indeed

BTW
that’s 12 home runs allowed now for Cueto. Thank Cool God he’s not walking anybody or else he’d really be a disaster.

Blame Pops...
He told me it was a no hitter going into the sixth… I totally blame him.. Although thanks Pops for the tix. I had a great time.. And made it home.. I have a new best friend..

pops is cool
i know because i met him for like fifteen minutes

I just saw this photo at MLB.com
It’s poor Fogg’s locker, filled with pennies.
Pity the poor clubbies who probably had to lug all those pennies in…

remember when the yankees player did the same trick on the other yankees player
except he used nickels because yankees make so much more money

LOL
I don’t think the Yanks have any pranksters quite on Griffey’s level.
Though Jorge Posada does keep a scale in his locker, to weigh his bats on. He charges his teammates 25 cents to use it. That just cracks me up. The guy makes 13 million a year, fer crissakes.

i liked when
shelly duncan wrote red sox suck in that boy’s notebook and the mother got all pissed off about it.
I think...
...that was probably a generational thing.
“Suck” used to be considered such a crude word that you would never use it around a kid. In 1982, the NY Times tried to describe what Yankees fans were chanting at their team’s owner, and phrased it as, “Steinbrenner creates a partial vacuum with his mouth! Steinbrenner creates a partial vacuum with his mouth!” Because they couldn’t use the word “suck.” Even today, my local paper will not use that word. They substitute “stink.”
But these days, most people don’t see it as being that bad. Especially younger people. Shelley didn’t mean it as “Red Sox perform fellatio,” but that’s how the kid’s mom probably read it.

Pro baseball is his hobby
Beergut softball is his passion.
He’s a lot better on defense with 3 other outfielders to help him, rather than just 2.

expecially
considering the bat was on his shoulder when he won the game for them..
Sorry for the call :)

Hamilton
Is now 5-5 with a 3B, two HR, and 5 RBI. Needs a double.
"Got a bump on the ole noggin, but otherwise god. And I get a new vehicle probably, w00t!"
Jay Bruce
The Fay-Man asked Jocketty about him.
Jay Bruce might be the hottest hitter on the planet. His bat is ready for the big leagues. The only thing preventing a call-up is the Reds don’t have a spot for him to play....”The main thing is you’ve got to make sure you’ve got enough playing time,” Jocketty said. “I don’t think we feel comfortable that we have the adequate playing time. At some point, we just have to do it.”
The Reds are keeping a close watch on Bruce.
“Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed,” Jocketty said. “We have so many good left-handed-hitting outfielders, we have to see what would be the best time to bring him up. At some point, you just do it.”
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
In otherwords we don't want him to be arbitration elgible for as long as possible...
People Don't Kill People. Burning Couches Kill People.
He's probably waiting
To make a move with Junior going to Seattle. That’s what I tell myself so I can sleep at night, anyway.
"Got a bump on the ole noggin, but otherwise god. And I get a new vehicle probably, w00t!"
more likely
In other words, we have two highly paid players on the corner outfield spots right now and we think Bruce will play a corner spot in the Majors.
Given the new wave of locking young players up for cheap well before their arb years, I doubt his actual clock start is the reason he’s not up.

Any guesses on when Cincinnati will embrace this "new wave?"
I’m thinking circa 2014. Don’t go there lolzz!
Great win for the Reds
Especially to take one off the Sowers Patch Kid. And I fancy our chances with Harang going against Carmona. Sunday, Cliff Lee vs. the Wagon… well that just has me all sorts of giddy. Who knows what’s going to happen in that one?
Don’t look now, but that’s four wins in a row off of some quality teams. Oh Reds, you perplexing little minxes, why can’t you win like this all the time?
Oh, and still only four runs for Cueto, but I think that’s a season high.
I feel like saturday and SUnday are going to be a wash
neither team has a clear advantage. Carmona has been dealing as of late, all I can see is it should be a good fast low scoring game. I am so glad I have tickets for Sunday, that should be a great game, but Cliff Lee is going to crack at some point. I don’t think he is as bad as he was last year, but he isn’t as good as he has been this year (nobody is that good). He isn’t an elite pitcher, but he is a quality mid level pitcher.

They gave Cueto 5 in his last win (two starts ago)
but 2.92 R/G is just not fair to do to the kid.

I meant to continue writing...
just two more starts and Cueto will have the 2nd most starts for a Red while allowing at least 2.0 HR/9 IP

he reminds me of Seaver & Browning in that
they are usually solo shots. But they need to get him a little better run support. And I can’t seem to stay off baseball reference now
