BA predicts Reds to pick Crow.
Baseball America today debuted its first draft prediction of the season and has the Reds selecting Aaron Crow, RHP, Missouri. Here is what BA wrote:
7. REDS. When Crow put together a 43-inning scoreless streak early in the season, he looked like the top candidate to go No. 1, and Cincinnati would be thrilled if he somehow made it this far. One rumor that won't die pairs the Reds with Florida high school righthander/shortstop/quarterback Casey Kelly, who would be a bit of a reach. Casey's father Pat manages the organization's Rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate.
The six picks prior to the Reds are predicted as follows:
1. Tampa Bay: Tim Beckham-SS-HS
2. Pittsburgh: Pedro Alvarez-3B-Vanderbilt
3. Kansas City: Buster Posey-C-Florida State
4. Baltimore: Brian Matusz-RHP-San Diego
5. San Francisco: Justin SMoak-1B-South Carolina
6. Florida: Kyle Skipworth-C-HS
For what it's worth, Jonathan Mayo of minorleaguebaseball.com also predicts the Reds will take Crow.

People once believed that when a baseball team dies, a crow carries its soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the team can’t rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that team back to put the wrong things right.

I think Crow is a steal at No. 7.
He is a 6-3, 195-pound RHP from Missouri. A native of Wakarusa, Kansas, Crow is 11-0 with a 2.82 ERA. In 12 games, all starts, Crow has given up 72 hits in 83 IP, struck out 103 and walked 29. He has three CG and 3 shutouts.
Crow was the No. 1 prospect in the Cape Cod League last summer. He has excellent command of a 91-94 mph fastball. He has touched 98 but his fastball flattens out when he throws it that hard. He keeps the ball down, works the corners and hits his spots. He doesn’t strike out as many as one might think he should, but gets a lot of ground balls.
Crow has a solid-average slider and change. He repeats his delivery well, but has a bit of effort to it. That fact and that he’s not a particularly big guy has scouts somewhat concerned about his durability. He has a better breaking ball and change at this stage than did former teammate Max Scherzer, now of the Diamondbacks. Scherzer has a superior fastball.
Crow effectively can throw breaking balls in fastball counts. He is a hard worker and is said to feature the best fastball life, command and velocity of any SP in the draft. He also features the best slider command of any pitcher available.
Crow began the season with a 43-inning scoreless streak. Baseball America rates him the No. 3 prospect available, behind Vanderbilt 3B Pedro Alvarez and San Diego LHP Brian Matusz. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes ahead of Smoak and Skipworth, although both are quality players.

You could say that...
He’s a pitcher at Mizzou, so I’ve had the privilege of watching him. Guy has great hear and is an absolute beast on the mound. Guy would be a steal at #7. Reminds me of Max Scherzer.

I'd love to grab Crow
Beckham, Alvarez, Matusz and Smoak are almost sure to be gone at #7. I still don’t know if Skipworth or Posey will go that high. Both were late risers, but with our pick of Mesoraco last year, the earlier these guys go, the better.
If Crow’s there, he’s the pick. If Crow’s gone along with my first 4, I’d go with Gordon Beckham (no relation to Tim), SS from U.Georgia. He’d seem to fit with Chris Buckley’s draft philosophy.
Absolute worst-case scenario, the first 6 taken are T.Beckham, Alvarez, Matusz, Smoak, Crow, and G.Beckham. In that case, I think I’d go with Tanner Scheppers (RHP-Fresno St.) or Shooter Hunt (RHP-Tulane) over Posey, Skipworth or Friedrich.

I like Gordon Beckham a lot, too.
Scheppers is a risk because he has a small fracture in his shoulder that will keep him from pitching for several weeks at least, but he could be quite a nice pick if he drops and comes back healthy.
I like Posey and Skipworth but don’t see the Reds going with a catcher in the first round two straight years. Yonder Alonso, 1B from Miami, is another hitter I like. I would be quite pleased with either Crow or G. Beckham.

FWIW
Looks like he features a mid-90s sinker, with a changeup and slider as his secondary offerings. High 3/4 arm slot, drop-and-drive type, good arm action. They note one red flag, he cocks his wrist like Barry Zito after he breaks his hands.
Kind of reminds me of this guy, actually

What if...
Pedro Alverez slips, because he currently is, why I don’t know, would we meet his money demands and take him? He would be a very good fit for us because he will move very fast through the system and create a great offensive core with Bruce, but the money would be an issue.
I know its doubtful he’ll fall that far but Sickles has him at 9 right now I believe.

MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo has an updated prediction
that still has the Reds taking Crow. The rest of his top 10 changed a bit, with Tampa Bay taking Tim Beckham, followed by Pittsburgh selecting Alvarez., KC taking Hosmer, Baltimore grabbing Matusz, SF nabbing Posey and Florida picking Skipworth before the Reds take Crow.
