Ricky Nolasco vs Bronson Arroyo

Complete Coverage >

Marlons_medium      414px-bronson_1973_medium

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Ricky Nolasco 2-3 5.35 1.43 21 13

W-L ERA WHIP K BB
2008 - Bronson Arroyo 2-4 7.14 1.72 38 15

This will be Nolasco's 2nd career start against the Reds.  The last time he started against them , the lineup contained Chris Denorfia, Todd Hollandsworth, Javier Valentin, and Juan Castro - all players no longer with the team.  Oh wait, Valentin's still there he just doesn't play.  What's really weird with that lineup is that Brandon Phillips batted 8th behind Hollandsworth, Valentin, and Castro.  I'm sure we were somewhat outraged, though it's not evident in the thread.  At least the Reds won, keeping their playoff hopes alive for one more day.

Arroyo is going on short rest tonight after throwing 115 pitches in his last start.  He's started a game on 3 days rest just 6 times in his career and only 3 of those are since 2001.  He did it twice for the Reds in 2006, once coming off of 110 pitches and another coming off of 111 pitches.  The results were mixed, and that was badass Bronson of 2006.  Given that we've got roller coaster Bronson this season, I'm not so sure starting him tonight is the right move.  Honestly, I'd have given the ball to Josh Fogg, who hasn't pitched in 10 days.  Leave Bronson on regular rest and skip Belisle this time through.

It won't matter though, because we've all be praying for good Bronson tonight, right?  Right?

'sup brendan?

In the end, life and business are about human connections. And computers are about trying to murder you in a lake. And to me the choice is easy.

I went and bought albums by Black Mountain and the Black Angels

They make me wish I did drugs, because they would be great albums to put on, dim the lights, and just get stoned.

Marlons vs. the Bronson?

Do we not have other team members? Be consistent with your picto-glyphs dammit!

That's 'TEAM BRONSON'

i'm really confused

where is this pic up on the front page?

isn’t he more comparable to bronson than the wayans guy?

space issues

Plus, I was going for the lesser-known-brother aspect, to show the inferiority of our opponents. Whereas Charles Bronson is a badass.

Speaking of Chris Denorfia

I saw the A’s put him on the DL. Is he really injured, or did they just want him off the roster because he’s not hitting?

Dusty Baker got killed today..

by Rob Neyer in his Insider Blog.

“if Dusty Baker really believes what he said about Corey Patterson, he should be fired immediately. http://shysterball.blogspot.com/2008/05/dusty-being-dusty.html
• Not to pile on or anything, but did you see where Baker’s Reds batted out of order the other day? Afterward, Dusty said he hadn’t seen anything like that since he was a player. Except, as Richie Rich points out, less than five years ago Baker’s Cubs batted out of order. http://homerderby.com/archives/2220

by kennythered on May 14, 2008 6:23 PM EDT   0 recs

i think dusty is going to keep putting him there

for one reason and one reason only, his speed. Now weather or not this is a good call is another matter.

You know, maybe...

Someone could tell Dusty to keep doing the batting out of order thing. That’s how we get Patterson out of the leadoff spot.

At least it wasn't Grady Little.

if Randolph would have let Patterson hit after Ross

and Paterson got a hit, could he have invoked the rules there?

bako, hairston jr, and patterson would all be in the lineup at one time, what would you say?

Conversation from the people behind me last night

Guy “Dunn you suck, you’re a dumbass”

Girl “Dunn?”

Guy “Yeah he’s batting”

Girl “I thought Dunn quit?”

Guy “No, he’s down there batting right now”

Girl “Oh yeah, that was Casey”

I am not watching on TV. I’m internetting.

My father-in-law attended a seminary, and they decided to play a joke on one of their classmates. One day, while he was napping, everyone decided to hide out in some other part of the school. The poor guy wakes up, and he thinks the Rapture has occurred, and he’s been left behind!
