Cueto and Volquez are rocks. Bailey is riding the merry go round. im not nearly as sold on him as i was two years ago.

thoughts?

I think Bailey will be a sound starting pitcher

He is only 22. Volquez took several attempts to make it in the big leagues.

Life is bare, gloom and misry everywhere

Just cant get my poorself together,

So weary all the time
When he went away the blues walked in and met me.
If he stays away old rockin chair will get me.

All I do is pray the lord above will let me walk in the sun once more.

I can’t wait until Northwest and Delta become one horrible lumbering airlines, with high fairs, low customer service, poor ontime ratings, and lots of lost luggage.

US and American West struggled to merge. I flew them in November 2006, and they lost my luggage and both my flights were late for no reason. I did some research apparently they were pretty terrible for about a year after the merger, and both airlines were smaller than Delta and Northwest.

What would make sense would to let BP play a little shortstop - he certainly is capable

Then Freel could play a little 2nd and Hairstunned could remain as the utile one. OF course that won’t happen… so hopefully Jannish gets a shot, Hairstunned ain’t no MLB shortstop.

to think that Harriston is most valuable as a utility guy. so i think Janish will get a decent shot at SS. his defense is stellar, so i think Dusty will really dig that. he may not hit, but does that really matter? he cant hit any worse than Patterson, right?

You mean...

...the .316 hitting, .907 OPSing Hairston?

And Janish has been hitting very well in Louisville. Got off to a slow start, but has been raking lately.

Oops

That was supposed to be .807.

do you think Hairston will beable to continue to hit at that rate?

I wasn’t even thinking about Janish but his bat has always been a question. Janish is somebody who I hope can keep an ops+ around 80 or 90 and not be an automatic Castro-esque out when he comes to the plate.

I think Cherry will be fine

He was raking in Louisville, and he’s continued in Cincinnati. I think he should be playing more than he has been. Apparently, he did something to annoy Dusty in spring training, which may explain why he’s been sitting on the bench so much.

He was terrible the past couple of years, but it was because he was injured. I don’t expect him to have a 1.222 OPS like he did in Louisville, but his bat his hot right now. He’s not a terrible choice for the top of the order.

Janish probably will struggle with the jump to the big leagues. He struggled when he made the jump to AAA last year. But his glove is excellent, and he’ll probably hit better than Castro at least.

Just reading about Kepp

He played two innings with a broken bone in his knee? Ye gods.

This might of been discussed before

when we where all talking about Pat the bat but who would be in favor of picking up Ryan Howard in the offseason and moving Joey Votto to the OF? I think it would be an awesome move if Philly doesn’t resign him.

I don't know

he made $10 million in his first year of arbitration. Unless he keeps hitting like shit, he’s likely to make $18m+ as a free agent. I think they’d have a better shot of signing Dunn for $14m or $15m and possibly a shorter deal since he might give a “hometown” discount.

True

That is why I’m rooting for him to suck this year so the reds can take a flyer on him. I think if the Reds do not resign Dunn then they might go after him but that is not exactly the brightest thing to do considering Dunn seems to have 75% of Ryan Howard’s numbers {when is playing normal} at a cheaper cost.

If money were no object...

I would sign Howard in a heartbeat over Dunn. When Howard is right, he is pretty much unstoppable. When Dunn is right, he is intimidating, but there are still ways to get him out.

At least it wasn't Grady Little.

i'd sign both

and put Votto in Rightfield with Dunn in Left and Bruce in Center. I don’t know if Votto could break glass with his arm but I think the offensive implications of that would far outweigh the denfesive loss. That team would mash.
