Game 40 Thread: Reds vs Phish
Florida @ Cincinnati
|
|
|
The current set of Reds who have faced Hendrickson have hit him very well as a group (.408/.432/.553). It's only 82 PAs, but it still shows he is hittable. Remember that: he is hittable.
Volquez just needs to keep the wagon rolling. He has some work to do if he's going to catch Cliff Lee for the ERA lead. Tonight's focus should be on the win though. The Reds haven't won back-to-back games this month. It's time for that statement to be false.

Cliff Lee is unreal this season
glad I went for Westbrook in the fantasy league instead. There would be too much pressure remembering to put him in the line up every 5 days

that is also true, and Bako is "great at calling games"
it would make more sense to give Bako the day off when Bronson starts since Bronson and Ross are BFF’s.

it won't really matter in another few weeks/days when Bako falls back to Earth
since Ross is also known for his defensive and game calling skills more than his bat. I think Ross is Paul Bako with a little better arm, and more pop.

Squish the Fish!
I guess that’s the lineup against lefties?
Looks like Hairston has gotten out of Dusty’s doghouse. Either that, or Dusty’s gotten desperate.
I’m sure Voltron will be fine with Ross. Did you see that article about how Dusty told Cueto not to shake off Bako? He said Volquez almost never shakes the catcher off.

so want to know a fun stat
Griffey is a career .625 lifetime hitter against Hendrickson, sporting an OBP of .727, SLG of 1.000, in 11 at bats ranging from 2005-2007. Yeah 11 at is a small sample size but I still like the odds with Griffey. The Reds face Andrew Miller on Thursday and Jeremy Sowers on Friday, I think Griffey could have played two more games without his legs falling off.

I scanned to a station that was having a “block party weekend” or somesuch. The next block was Phish, so I knew what station not to listen to for at least an hour.

I think actually...
That batting out of order is even more rare than an unassisted triple play. There have been 14 unassisted triple plays ever. I wonder how many times hitters have batted out of order?
If so, Sunday’s game should be memorialized in the Reds’ Hall of Fame.

riddle me this: why is mixing the lefties against righties so much more important than mixing the righties against lefties? i mean, this lineup features 7 righties in a row. maybe im just being simple, but i think this is another reason for me to hate Dusty.

I kind of liked what he said
he said that he could have hit for more power, but his style of hitting required him to hit the ball deep in the zone. He said that he felt like that made him a better hitter because he wasn’t making easy outs as much.
The question is whether or not it is true.
