So the Marlins have been kicking ass this year, huh?  They're 23-14 and 3 games up in the East.  They are 11-5 on the road this season.  They've won 7 straight.  Super.

At least the Reds have Harang on the mound tonight.  That's like a guaranteed win.  What?  He's 1-5.  Damnit, Hitler was right!

Don't forget, andromache is representin' on Jeopardy tonight!

But I’ve got a TV lineup of Jeopardy (go andromache!), HIMYM (“Kids, here’s another story about your dad having sex twenty years ago.”), and Big Bang Theory. Huzzah for Mondays!

You'd think so

I mean, it’s by the creators of “Two and a Half Men,” for Christ’s sake! And the theme song is by the Barenaked Ladies. And I HATE the Barenaked Ladies. But I like the theme song and I like the show. It appeals to both the geek and the nerd in me. I think they won me over when the correctly stated that Superman is vulnerable to magic.

I’m certainly not holding it up as the best show on television by any stretch, but as traditional sitcoms go, it’s pretty decent. Plus there’s a strong “Roseanne” pedigree, so that helps. For someone jumping in, they might not enjoy it that much. But I’ve been with it for the duration, and I’m standing by it.

Pretty good summation of my feelings about Dayton, too, come to think of it.

i agree with everything brendan said

i started watching it from the beginning because it came on after HIMYM. I expected it to be terrible, but i’m starved for comedies. It was pretty funny the first week, and better the second week, and soon I started looking forward to it. The chararacter Sheldon is extremely funny, and the girl is indeed hot.

Right now he's making 14.25 mil

That’s what I don’t understand. Cincy media is saying you would have to re-sign Dunn at 13 something and yet they never come up with any replacement ideas. For his age and production, I don’t understand giving up on Dunn

by xjjeep90 on May 12, 2008 8:04 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hard to say now

Against it happening:

- The Phils regretted the last time they gave Burrell a big contract after a strong year.
- Pat Gillick doesn’t do extensions in the middle of the season.
- He’s not really a Philly-type of player, which is a lot like being a Cincinnati-type player. He’s never been that popular, and he’s always two strikeouts away from being booed.

For it happening:
- Gillick is likely in his last year, and his probable replacements are in-house. Gillick may let one of them do the extension since it’s their ship next year.
- I don’t see them signing Howard long-term, because of the strikeouts and his weight. I definitely don’t see them signing both Burrell and Howard, but I do see them signing one of them. They won’t have an established power hitter other than Utley in a couple of years.
- Despite the fickle support at home, Pat genuinely seems to like Philadelphia and has repeatedly professed his desire to stay. Could all be smoke, but I think it’s based in something sincere.
