Game 9 Thread: Reds at Brewers
Cincinnati @ Milwaukee
Tom Uhlman/AP (Fogg), Matt York/AP (Bush)
|
|
|
Neither pitcher had very good results in his first start of the year as Bush was pounded by the Cubs last Thursday and Fogg was patchy at best against the Phillies on Friday. The Reds could use a good outing from Fogg in a game like this versus a division rival. There is no better time than the present to start stealing games from one of the favorites to win the division.
And the offense better do a little sumpin'-sumpin' tonight. They're due.
[Note by boobs, 04/09/08 5:48 PM EDT ] Here we go. Guess who's not starting at third... From Fay:
1. Corey Patterson CF
2. Ryan Freel 3B
3. Ken Griffey Jr. RF
4. Brandon Phillips 2B
5. Adam Dunn LF
6. Jeff Keppinger SS
7. Scott Hatteberg 1B
8. Javy Valentin C
9. Josh Fogg P
So the guys who are getting on base are batting 5-6-7. The guys who are hitting for power are batting 1-3-4. If we didn't have 8 and 9 hitters, this would be an ideal second-inning lineup.

Hatteberg isn't exactly getting on base.
Actually, whatever the opposite of getting on base is, he's doing it so far.
I think that's called "Juan Castroing".

opening day a fes years ago
they played more than 5 innings, and were tied when the rain came. The rules on this change from year to year, at that time they didn't suspend games, a game was ruled a tie if tied when the action stopped. I think if either team would have been effected by a single game they would have made the game up. All of the stats counted from that tie, but I think if they ended up making it up all of the stats from that game would have been wiped away.

Let him watch the game from the outside and take it in. Try to find the rhythm again.

in what kind of hell
does the #2 hitter outhit the rest of the team and earn...a demotion to the 6th spot?

I don't see what the problem is
if Freel is going to play, would you rather him or Keppinger hit behind Dunn? I'd rather him bat second. Everyone else is hitting exactly where they've been hitting (or not hitting, as is the case) all year.

i would rather keppinger get as many at bats as he can possibly get
regardless of who hits in front of him. hopefully it works out, and dunn ends up getting something to hit because dave bush is afraid of kepp. hopefully he isnt double switched out for that wendy's classic single they call norris hopper.

hitting behind Dunn
I didn't mean to suggest that Keppinger protects Dunn in that way. I just don't think we're going to see Ryan Freel hitting jack shit with Adam Dunn on base. I'd rather have Keppinger doing it. Also, at least Freel might get some fastballs to hit if Griffey, Phillips, and Dunn are hitting behind him.

I don't think giving EdE a day off is a bad idea
he has been really struggling, a day off might help. BUt it might also cause him to place more pressure on himself. He may need a sports psyciatrist.
So fun fact, Josh Fogg's fastball is slower than Johnny Cueto's changeup.

I think he can go from suckage to mediocraty: 6 and a third, giving up four runs.
