This is a bit of a mismatch, with Edinson making his NL debut against Philly's ace. But I guess that's what happens when our ace faces their garbageman.
I'd like to remind everyone of a quote from the other day, after Cueto became the first person to debut with 10 strikeouts and no walks. From Kent Mercker to John Fay: "You know what, Volquez is just as good."

Why did the Reds use Harang in Volquez's spot on Saturday? I think it would have been better for Volquez to face Eaton instead of the Phillie Ace in his debut. Any ideas?
I think
you want to get Harang as many starts as possible. If you get to match Harang against a poorer pitcher, so much the better. It increases the likelihood of a win.
I also remember that Edinson stayed back for an extended Spring Training start earlier last week. He may not have been on regular rest yesterday. I'll go check that...

Harang's normal rest was also on Saturday
It's normal for a 5th starter to get moved around this time of year. We're just not used to having a guy worth seeing as a 5th starter. It feels...nice.

In quick-moving threads
like game threads, I've taken to turning auto-update off, especially if I'm trying to keep up. But I agree, there are definitely some loadtime issues going on. Hopefully they'll get it squared away soon.

I've long since turned auto-update off
But after hitting refresh, it takes 2-3 minutes for the page to load. I'm not exaggerating. I timed it. Short threads (less than a dozen posts, say) are fine, but anything longer than that gets slower and slower and slower. The more comments, the slower the thread.
And unlike the [new] tags, you can't start reading until the whole page has loaded.
I've basically given up on game threads. I hope they do "recap" threads more often, so those of us who can't deal with game threads have some place to discuss the game after it's over.

While it's not as fast as before, I've not seen the 2-3 minute load times. What are you viewing it on? I'm using the latest build of FF with fasterfox/adblock/flashblock running.

Latest version of Firefox. I, too have Adblack and Flashblock. Also NoScript.
Internet Explorer seems to load this site a little faster than Firefox, but I only use IE when there's no other choice. Maybe I'll try Opera.

Opera is a no-go. It's just as slow, and the keyboard shortcuts don't work. There's no way to find new comments that I can tell, aside from scrolling down and looking for the yellow ones.

for Phillips hate. We love Phillips, but we hate the fact that his .325 OBP bats one spot ahead of Dunn's .388 OBP. That's not Franchise's fault, it's Dusty's.

I don't think that's accurate
There's a ton of BP love. I think we're also aware of his limitations. We tend to think he's one of the best defensive second basemen in the League, and like the power that he has, but we realize he isn't a slugger. He does hit into a bunch of double plays. He's extremely valuable, but not as valuable as some people seem to think. Still, he certainly has the potential to be the face of the franchise for years to come.

that the slider is really just another changeup. sliders should be about 5 mph slower than a fastball, but volquez throws his about 13-14 mph slower (82ish).
